Jackson C. Rapp, Sr.
September 20, 1958 – August 10, 2025
Jackson Clinton Rapp, Sr. passed peacefully in Leonardtown, MD, surrounded by loved ones on the afternoon of Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Jackson is preceded in death by his parents, Lee A. Rapp, Sr. and Hilda (Cottrill) Rapp. He is survived by his two sons, Jackson C. Rapp Jr. and Joseph Lee Rapp and their mother Colleen Ponton. Jack is also survived by his compassionate wife Sharon Rapp, having shared more than 16 years together and caring for him through the end of his life. He is also survived by his brothers Edwin (Denise); Lee Rapp Jr. (Debbie); loving sister Janet Rapp along with his nephews Nathan, Nick, Steve and Jeff Rapp and many other family and friends who knew him as “Big Jack”.
After spending his childhood in Lanham, MD, Jack graduated from DuVal high school. He then attended Potomac State College in Kaiser, WV. He worked more than 50 years for Rapp Contracting, Inc., the family construction business his father established in 1958, the year he was born.
Jack was an optimistic and outgoing man known by his friends as “Big Jack”. He had a passion for Harley motorcycles, was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching Westerns and old-fashioned TV shows. As much as he loved those things, his greatest joy was family and enjoying his tranquil waterfront home in Abell, MD.
A funeral service officiated by Dexter Jennings, is scheduled at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD on August 23, 2025 from 3:00 – 4:00pm, preceded by Visitation from 2:00 – 3:00pm. A celebration of Jack’s life will immediately follow from 4:00 – 6:00pm at the Knights of Columbus-Boswell Hall at 6111 Columbian Way, Bowie, MD.
The family would like to thank his doctors and nurses at Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD as well as Jack’s compassionate hospice personnel.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the American Diabetes Association in Jack's name.
