James L. Grimes Sr. March 14, 1937- May 20, 2007 COLUMBUS, GA— James L. "Jim" Grimes Sr., 70, of Columbus, GA. died peacefully at his residence Sunday, May 20, 2007. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007 in Parkhill Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the graveside. Mr. Grimes was born March 14, 1937 in Columbus, GA., the son of the late A.L. Grimes, Jr. and Mayfair Melvin Grimes. He was the Comptroller at Bill Heard Chevrolet and Riverside Buick-Cadillac for many years. Jim was an active member of the community and will be remembered for his integrity, loyalty and respect for others. Survivors include his two children, Kimberly Grimes Adametz, M.D. of Little Rock, AR. and James L. "Jim" Grimes Jr. of Marietta, GA.; two brothers, John Grimes of Austin, TX and David Grimes of Lakewood, CO.; six grandchildren, Grant Adametz, Laura Adametz, Brooke Grimes, Chandler Grimes, Taylor Grimes and Jessica Strickland; two great grandchildren, Chloe Strickland and Hayley Strickland; numerous dear friends.
