Stuart, FL
James Edward Tomerlin, 92, of Stuart, FL passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Manors at Hobe Sound.
Ed was born in Huntsville, AL on December 6, 1922; he was the son of James Tarpley and Mary Elizabeth (nee Johnson) Tomerlin. He moved to Stuart in 1977 coming from Miami-Dade County.
Ed was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. After his enlistment, he went to college and received his Bachelor's degree from University of Miami.
Ed retired from teaching and had taught in the Miami-Dade County School District, Monroe County School District and Okeechobee County.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara B. Tomerlin; children, Jimmie Nell Putnal, Sharon Gilespie, James Edward Tomerlin, II and Randy Tomerlin; step-son, Joseph William Stryhal and wife, Dana; grandchildren, Alan Putnal, Jeff Putnal, James Corey Tomerlin, Jason Tomerlin and Heather Gilespie; step-grandchildren, Joseph Morgan Stryhal, William Drake Stryhal and James Chase Stryhal; and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ed's memory may be made to The Salvation Army, P. O. Box2475, Stuart, FL 34995.
