JAMES WORLEY Obituary

Worley, James "Jim", husband, father, grandfather and devout Christian, went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2012. Jim was born in Washington, DC on October 27, 1954, and spent most of his career as an officer in the U. S. A. F. before retiring in 1996. Besides doing the Lord's work, nothing brought him more joy than playing music and spending time with his family. He married Patty Brown on April 13, 1974, and they lived in Italy and all over the U. S. before moving to Montgomery in 1991. Jim was a proud graduate of The University of Kentucky and the Air Force Institute of Technology. He was ordained in and pastored for the Church of God, and was active in evangelism work with Frazer Memorial UMC. Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Worley, Sr., and his his mother, Wayneoka Worley. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patty; his son, James III and daughter-in-law, Sarah; daughter, Dusti Folmar and son-in-law Christian; son-in-law Ben Chuang; grandchildren, Roland, Alex, Zoe, Charlotte, Jacob and Hannah; brother, Mike and sister-in-law, Sandy; sister, Susan Booth; and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Parlor at Frazer Memorial UMC in Montgomery, with the memorial service following at 11 a.m. Any military members who can attend in uniform are encouraged to do so. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Frazer UMC, "In Christ's Way" Fund.

I spent much time with Jim back in 92 to 95 when we played in our band. I saw him progress from a beginner to a master guitarist in less than a year. But, it was his integrity, honesty, dedication to his family, and friends that always impressed me the most. Through the years since, I have played guitar, and had many conversations with him and he was always a shining example of the best possible friend a person could have. I have just learned of his passing last Sunday, and still feel stunned. Words just don't come easy, he was a truly great man in my eyes. He always spoke of Patty as "his best friend", and often encouraged all the rest of us in the band in different aspects of our lives. Those memories will remain with me forever of all the times he shared with us.

Jim was a good friend. My wife Cindy and I knew Jim for many years. I remember many good times with Jim and Patty. We shared many meals, played games, went hiking, took trips, had countless conversations and many laughs together. Jim was very intelligent and had a great sense of humor. He was highly respected by many people. Jim was always ready to help someone whenever he was needed. The one thing about Jim that always came out when we were with him was his love for the Lord. He had a real sense of urgency for the salvation of others. This was an extremely important part of his life. I truly believe that Jim was fully ready and looked forward to meeting his Maker. He was a good man. I will miss him.

Dear Patty,
Walter and I were so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. The thing I remember most about Jim is his love for Jesus. We were unable to attend the service due to scheduling conflicts. We had wanted to share with you how inspirational Jim was to us. We spent the week remembering how he motivated us to do EE with him. He made a mark on our lives. We will surely miss him but I know he is rejoicing in heaven now.

Patty: I am so sad to hear of Jim's passing. He was a good pastor and we were lucky to have him for a short time at Sonrise Community Church. I will always remember when he went to all the trouble to record the Christmas album for the church. He will be a shining light in Heaven.

Patty, words seem so empty to express our sadness over your loss of your beloved Jim. He was one of the finest Christian examples of a husband, father and grandfather that I have ever known. His love for the Lord was evident in everything he did and said. His love and devotion to his family was unmeasurable. Please let me know if we can do anything to help you or the children, and know you are in our prayers We love you.

Patty and family,

Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

We rejoice with Jim because he is home, and perfect. But, we weep with you and your family because you are suffering a tremendous loss.

I already miss my friend and fellow minister/musician. We will miss him Friday night when we play for Candlelight - he and I had scheduled for him to lead a portion of the service.

We pray the Comforter will console you in this time and help you know that Christ is present.

August 22, 2012

Patty, I wanted to come down for the service but won't be able to make it. I had the best conversation with Jimmy in June when he was in Martin, KY for Bristol's funeral. He talked about your family and just glowed when talking about the grandkids! My goodness, he was proud of them all! We talked about the Lord and how great He is and I was so encouraged after our visit! Please know that you and the family are in our prayers. - Jackie & Ted Young (Liberty, IN)

We will miss Jim's warm handshake, smile, and willingness to spread the Gospel with anyone who would listen. He was a true Warrior of God which are hard to find. What a shock to Debbie and I when we learned the terrible news. We will always remember Jim and the light he brought into the world. May God comfort you and hold you close to his breast in this time of need and may God's Grace carry you through these dark days.

Patty and Family,
There are no words adequate enough to express the sadness we share with you over the loss of Jim. We still cannot believe that we will not see his smiling face at the bowling alley. He was always a ray of sunshine! We know, however, that God's plan for each of us is complete and perfect, and now Jim is sitting at the feet of Jesus rejoicing with the angels. Please know that we are praying for all of you - praying for peace and comfort. We love you all.
