Janet Thompson Obituary

Janet Quincy Thompson, of Wellesley, Massachussetts died Thursday 2 June 2011 in Millfield Retirement Home, Keswick, Cumbria, England. Born in Waterville, Maine, February 26, 1910, Janet moved to Boston where she became a head buyer for Jordan Marsh & Co. In 1936 she married the late Albert A. Thompson and moved to Wellesley. In 1944 her daughter, Susan, was born and Janet began teaching elementary school in Wellesley. Over many years she worked enthusiastically in the local community helping organize events at St. Andrews Episcopal Church and Rosies Place in Boston. This work continued into her nineties when she eventually moved to England to live with her grandchildren, Geoffrey, Michael and Charles. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan, in 2007. A memorial service will be held at 11.00am on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at St Andrews Episcopal Church. Donations can be made to St Andrews Episcopal Church, 79 Denton Rd, Wellesley and Rosies Place, 889 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118. The Duckett | J. S.
