I knew Jay primarily thorugh my big brother (Danny Moore)Mike in Michigan and have such fond memories of the two of them working on a car together in the back yard. Jay was my brother's best friend, and when Mike died, Jay told me that Mike was his. We began keeping each other up to date on what was going on in our lives and I have been praying for him these last few years with his health concerns. I am so sorry he had to leave now-- he always spoke of Yendry and his kids being his strength and his life. You all made him so very happy. My sympathies to you all. His memory will certainly live on up here in Michigan.

Only over the past several months I have had the joy of renewing our friendship when Jay and Yendry moved to Ponchatoula. I will always cherish memories of our rides with Jay and the pleasure of meeting and coming to know Yendry. We will remain available to Yendry to help her through this difficult time.

It is with deep sorrow that I say goodbye to my cousin, Jay. I have so many fond memories of time spent with him when we were young, living in Michigan. He would delight me for hours talking like Donald Duck! My mother, Diane Dineen Powell, adored Jay. The trip to New Orleans in 1998 (billed as my mother's "farewell tour") is another fond memory, time spent at Diane's eating great food, visiting with Aunt Jean and the kids ~~ topped off with Jay driving up on his Harley. Your stay in Houston and Austin during the Katrina event was a time I got to spend time with you, getting to know you. Jay, you will be missed by your cousins in the great state of Texas. My thoughts and prayers are with my cousin Diane, Jay's children, and Yendry.
