Jeanne Wintringham Obituary
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured spending time with family and friends. A voracious reader in past years, she enjoyed playing tennis and attending classes at Tidewater Community College. She and Laddie were regular diners at Jason's Deli and Gus and George's.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bessie Crump; sister, Mary Anne Crump Fanney; daughter, Ann Crump Wintringham McHugh; and great-grandson Joshua Michael Wintringham.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Jordan "Laddie" Wintringham, of the home; sons, Jordan (Brenda) of Max Meadows, Va. and David (Robin) of Burlington, N.C.; son-in-law, John McHugh (Angie) of Charlottesville, Va.; grandchildren, Joe (Shannon) Wintringham, Jay (Robin) Wintringham, Tyler (Jessica) Wintringham, Chip Wintringham, Jack McHugh, and Jennifer Ann Wintringham; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Joey, Ian, and Tyler Jr.; brother-in-law, Bobby Fanney; nephews, Tim (Linda), Rob (Peggy) and Bill (Myrna) Fanney; and special cousin, Sabrina Matthews.
Jeanne was born March 19, 1931 in Norfolk, Va. A 1949 graduate of Maury High School, she married Laddie Aug. 26, 1950 and moved to Paris Island, S.C. Following Laddie's completion of Marine Corps duty in South Carolina, they relocated to Norfolk, where Jeanne worked briefly for the City of Norfolk. In 1962 they moved to Thoroughgood, where Jeanne lived until her passing.
Jeanne was a member of the Living Bible Sunday School Class at Baylake United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach. She and Laddie participated in serving meals to homeless families through their church.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Baylake United Methodist Church, 4300 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach. The family will receive guests following the service in the church fellowship hall.
