Jeff Seacrest Obituary

Elam Jeff Seacrest, 77, of Longmont, CO died February 21, 2019 at his home. He was born in Fort Morgan, CO to Sarah Genevieve (Millhouse) and Ralph Rauch Seacrest. His family moved to Nebraska where Jeff spent his early childhood in North Platte. They moved to Boulder in 1951 where Jeff attended Mapleton Elementary, Casey Junior High, and Boulder High Schools. Jeff worked in Estes Park while in high school and joined the Navy after graduation. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he went to work for Boulder Excavating as a heavy equipment operator and attended school at UC Denver. Jeff began working at Rocky Flats as an operating engineer in 1967, retiring in 1998 after 31 years. He met Becky Palmer in 7th grade home room at Casey Jr. High and several years later they were married in 1964. They raised their family in Boulder and moved to Longmont in 1991. After retirement the couple traveled frequently, including over 30 trips to Hawaii. Jeff had a lifelong love of the mountains and was an avid fly fisherman. He enjoyed time at their cabin at Beaver Lake where he shared his love of the mountains with his grandchildren. Jeff also enjoyed restoring classic cars and was a member of the Boulder Timing Association Car Club. His joy in recent years was taking Becky out to lunch. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Longmont, the American Legion Post #32, and the Operating Engineers #9. When Jeff was not spending time with family or friends, he could be found in his workshop tinkering and listening to an eclectic variety of music. He is survived by his loving wife Becky Seacrest of Longmont, his daughters Barbara Seacrest (Derald Lyons) of Parker, CO, Jeannie (Kirk) McClure of Lawrence, KS, and his son Jeff (Jewel) Seacrest of Grand Junction, CO. He is also survived by his sister Roxanne Powell of Longmont, CO and his brother David (Barbara) Seacrest of San Mateo, CA. His grandchildren Libby McClure, David Lyons (Kristin), Palmer Lyons, Tyler Seacrest, Heather (Jack) Olson, Ivy Seacrest, and Summer Seacrest, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. Preceding Jeff in death are his parents and one grandson, Hunter Lyons. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 2415 Lake Park Dr, Longmont, CO, at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 11th, 2019. A reception will immediately follow at the church. Donations in Jeff's memory can be made to the Mountain States Children's Home at https://www.msch.org/ or sent in care of Howe Mortuary.
