Jeffrey Bozeman Obituary

Jeffrey Guy Bozeman passed away suddenly on September 24, 2021, of congestive heart failure at the age of 45. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 14, 1975, to Travis and Shelia Guy Bozeman. He attended Brother Martin, Clifton L. Ganus, and Lutheran High School and went on to further his education at Delgado Community College. He served his community as an Orleans Parish firefighter and had the distinction of being in the first graduating class after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He had another career as an outside sales representative for Delta Foremost Chemical Corporation in Memphis, Tennessee. Jeff was a former member of Claiborne Presbyterian Church and attended the Buddhist Temple in Baton Rouge on Friday evenings. He resided in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for two years following his departure from the Orleans Parish Fire Department the year after Katrina, relocating thereafter to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he resided for 15 years. Jeffrey was a man of many interests. He loved skateboarding, photography, rock concerts, camping, hiking, rock collecting and was a Star Wars enthusiast and ComicCon participant. One of his favorite activities was attending live concerts. He was an avid sports fan of the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Fighting Tigers. He is survived by his parents, Travis D. Bozeman, Jr. and Shelia Guy Bozeman; fiancée, Erin McCormick Majorie; Erin's daughter, Stella, with whom he shared a special bond and referred to as his muse; sister, Jeannine Clark Gondy (William J. III); brother, Travis D. Bozeman III and fiancee' Dayna Marcello Morvant; nieces: Sophia and Julianne Gondy, and Mary Ella Bozeman; nephews: William (Jordan), John (Clara), David (Abigail), Michael, Andrew, and Stuart Gondy; aunts, Roxy Guy Pontikes and Patricia Bozeman-Speer (Jerry); and an uncle, William Bozeman II (Diane); cousins: Mitzi Pontikes Burns, Christian and Evan Pontikes, Simone Jones Cohen (Brian), Michelle Jones, and Summer Jones, Gwen and Eric Harris, Jr; Bridget Bozeman McKinney and Tim Bozeman; his former sister-in-law, Ashley Woods Bozeman; and his loving dog and constant companion, Beaux. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Travis D. Bozeman, Sr., Lucy Dee Bozeman-Jackson, Luther Thomas Guy, and Mildred Chiasson Guy; aunt, Lucille Corinne Bozeman; and cousins, Christopher Bozeman and Trevor Cook. The family would like to acknowledge all those who befriended, loved and cherished Jeff. They are too numerous to enumerate, as he was a collector of people throughout his lifetime and impacted many lives. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 5 – 9 PM and then again on Thursday, September30, 2021, at 9 AM. A funeral service will begin on Thursday at 11 AM. He will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery following the service. Jeff's family would like to encourage any and all visitors to help decorate his casket by bringing a sticker of your choosing. I just talked to you inviting you to come skate my ramp for my birthday! I still can´t believe that you are gone. You were the coolest of cool people I have ever met. I don´t understand how to take this news. Randa Prado and I would make it a point to look for you at live shows because chances were that you were there. Deftones, NIN and more you´d be there. I´m going to miss you my friend. My heart is heavy with this. Nicest man, friend, skate homie there is. True lifer you are! Rest easy my beautiful friend. I love you Jeff Bozeman

Been grappling to find the words, but they aren´t there. Yours was a light so bright and it´s clear now that everyone who knew you saw it. My Mom always says a persons´ worth can be measured by what people say about them after they pass, well I hope you are seeing it. You touched so many people with your gentle, easy spirit and that smile that lit up any room. We can all take solace in that you were SO happy now bc of Erin, Stella & of course your boy Beaux. I´ll never understand the timing but Keeper says God picks the ones he wants. This song was playing when Peter called yesterday, it didn´t hit me until today the last line is, "love and love and nothing else, it´s all I need". Maybe you were saying see you later. Give Faith some pets for me, until I see you again brother. Love you Boze.

PS. Hope to see you in the sunsets.

I don't really know what to say, Jeff was a good human and that he got from how he was raised. He always wanted to help everyone he came in contact with. That value came from how he was raised, the roads he traveled and a deep sense of good. When anyone goes before us, it leaves a hole in our hearts but when it's our child it leaves a large missing space. Please grieve as you want, need or feel. Don't let society norms or others even if they (like me) have been there. Each of us can share how, what, when we have moved forward or backwards in our process of grief but each of us is different. You do it your way. Jeff will be remembered for many things and those things are a loving soul, good human, great photographer, a pretty damn good skater, not to bad of a dog dad, a great friend, I'm sure a good son, and I know that many considered him someone they could talk, laugh with, cry with and grow. Love Kathy
