Beverly:
I am so saddened to hear of Jerry passing. I don't get much news of the old gang since I left the area.
Of all the coaches I had the pleasure of knowing through the years, Jerry was always the one I respected most. He was always a gentleman, a good father and husband, at least from an outsiders view. He was highly respected by averyone that knew him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, the boys and the rest of your family.
If you are ever in our area, stop by and see us.

It was sad to learn of Jerry's death upon my return from vacation.
I enjoyed working with him for many years at FHCHS and was always happy to see him when he came back as a sub. My sincere sympathy goes to the Jacobs' family. You and Jerry are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was saddened to read of Coach Jacobs' death as I was preparing to leave for vacation. My sincere sympathy goes to his family, friends, former students and athletes. I had the pleasure of knowing Coach Jacobs while I was principal at Lake Worth High. I will always remember him as being a gentleman, an excellent role model and a highly organized professional athletic administrator. He will be missed by many who had the privilege of knowing him.

It was a priviledge to be able to play for Coach Jacobs. He gave me the foundation to become who I am today. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I was a sophomore in 1974 when Coach Jacobs told me in driver’s education class that I need to be playing football. Now, I begin my 27th year as a football coach and athletic administrator. It was the coaches at Forest Hill High School that help ingrain my love for young people, sports, and football. Coach Jacobs led the way for what has become such a major part of my life. It felt like yesterday I could see him walking through the gym after closing the ticket gate of another basketball game. He always carried the money box tightly under his arm and stored it in his corner office. I remember thinking to myself, “Does he do this for every game?” He sure did!
In an era when coaches come and go, Coach Jacobs flew like a true “Falcon”, loyal to his players, team, all student-athletes, and to Forest Hill High School. It was an honor to play, and learn from him and all the coaches on his staff, Coach Nicholson, Coach Bigbee, Coach Wood, Coach Jakes, Coach Hopkins and Coach Winkler.
Words are not enough to say when people mold other lives. But for all the athletes and coaches that Coach Jacobs touched, please know that all of us, me included, are truly grateful. Thank you, Beverly for sharing him with all of us. May God Bless you and your family.
