Joan, here it is a little over a year since you went to Heaven. I continue to want to call you to tell you something or ask you a question about mom or dad's family. Bro Jack has not been well this last year and he too misses you. I have visited the grave site where we laid your earthly body to rest several times even tho I know you are not there. It is somehow a place to connect as odd as that seems. I miss you so much! Loving all the precious memories and fun times we had in our 70+ years as sisters. We were blessed to have been as close all those years, living less than 2 miles apart our entire life time. I smile becase it happened. I will see you again Joan! From:Sister, Jeanette

Joan, I miss you so very much. I have shed many tears.... a language that God understands. Remember the song we used to sing? I miss your phone calls, our shopping trips, our family dinners, especially Thanksgiving without you and your family too. Being close is precious in a family, but it hurts so when one has left us. I'll meet you some sweet day when God calls me home, mom, dad, my grandson Jordan, and so many more of our loved ones. Your sister, Jeanette

Family,

There is nothing I can say or do that will bring beloved Joan back to us and of course we would not want to because we know that she is happy and well and will be waiting for us when it is our time to make transition. Heaven just got a little sweeter and I long for the day when time and distance will separate us no more.

Joan was one of my favorite first cousins, and I remember loving her from way back as far as I can remember. She was kindhearted, loving, and a devout Christian lady. I remember fondly spending time in TN with Uncle Frank and Aunt Effie, Aunt Becky and cousin Joan. It was the summer after my 5th grade year and I stayed 3 weeks. The two things that I remember the most (besides my first ride on an escalator) was Joan getting me down and combing the tangles out of my hair (she continued to comb no matter how much I screamed) and her teaching me how to twist to BeBoopalula. I kept that 45 many years and through many moves until my house burned in 2001.

The last time I saw her was about 12-13 years ago, she came over when I stopped by with my mother to visit Aunt Effie and Uncle Frank. We argued religion a little but her convictions only made me respect her more. And though I have regrets that I didn't visit more due to time and situations, I know without a doubt that I will see her again.

Jeanette and Jack, I have not lost a sibling but I know what loss is and it is never easy. Hold on to the hand of God and those around you in this time of need for comfort. I am sorry I found out too late to make the trip for Joan's home going service. Hopefully I can make opportunity to visit you all in the near future. I will keep you lifted.

Love and blessings!

I am saddened by the loss of our dear friend and sister in Christ Joan Gordon. Joan was a very dedicated woman to the Lord and to all those ties here on earth. I can think of many examples of her dedication in the many years that I worked with her at K25. My deepest sympathy goes to her husband and family. May God bless you with comfort and consolation of the loss of a very lovey and tender woman. Joan, I look forward to seeing you on the other side.

I have known Joan since attending Karns High School and more recently through the exercise classes previously held at Grace Baptist Church. I have always admired her for the grace and beauty with which she approached life. Her warmth and compassion were always given freely to everyone she met. I will truly miss her and wish her family strength to cope with their loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Joan was a very special lady who always treated everyone with love and kindness. My mother always considered her a great friend and would spend time talking on the phone with her or exchanging notes and cards. I know that her struggle with cancer surpassed everyone's expectations, but I feel Joan did all she could to use her illness to touch people and inspire everyone that just because you are down does not mean you are out. I am faithful that she is now in the arms of Jesus and free from her trials here own earth...you all will be in my prayers.
