A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:30a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at St. Francis de Sales Church 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. The Interment will be private.

John Robert Ancona was born April 9, 1942, in Rockford, IL to Nicholas and Antoinette Ancona.

He graduated from Northern IL and the University of New Hampshire with two Master's Degrees in mathematics and business. He married Patricia Witek on August 4,1965 and they had three children together, Jason, Mary and Sara. He taught HS math in District 214 for 23 years before taking an early retirement to serve as Broker/Owner of first Re/max Crossroads in Rolling Meadows and later Keller Williams Success Realty in Barrington.

For the last several years he has been enjoying retirement by growing many vegetables in his garden, playing poker with his friends and spending time with his wife's sister Marilyn and husband Jim, his brother Nick and wife Floyette and many old and new friends from college, Door County and Florida. He loved John Wayne movies and Our Lady of Fatima. For many years he enjoyed watching his grandkids play soccer and baseball and was known on the sidelines by all the families. He very much enjoyed and would have loved to have been at the sidelines of his youngest grandchildren as they grow.

He is survived by his wife Patty; his brother's Nick(Floyette) Ancona and David(Theresa) Ancona; his children Jason(Karina) Ancona, Mary(Seiji) Yonehara and Sara(Greg) Brown and his grandchildren Shawn (Cece) Owen, Kyle Owen, Trevor(Annika) Owen, Gabriel Owen, Grace Owen, Ava and Andrew Ancona.

We will miss his quick wit, his contagious laugh and having him as a central part of our lives. He left a legacy of unconditional love for his family and friends and the value of hard work.
