John W. Broad
John W. Broad, a distinguished San Francisco lawyer for more than 60 years, died suddenly September 16, 2002 in San Francisco, where he resided. He was 88.
Mr. Broad was senior partner in the San Francisco law firm of Broad, Schultz, Larson, & Wineberg. Late in his life he was counsel for the firm of Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos & Rudy.
A graduate in 1942 of Stanford Law School, he held a Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University. The Chicago born was an active member of the San Francisco Bar Association.
Mr. Broad was a longtime member of the Saint Mary's College of California Board of Regents. He was accorded Honorary Alumnus status by Saint Mary's College and was bestowed with the very special distinction of an Affiliated Christian Brother.
Mr. Broad loved music, opera, the symphony, theatre and travel. He believed in education and continued to attend classes at the Fromm Institute at USF until the week of his passing.
Preceded in death in 1992 by Marie, his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his brother, Frank F. Broad of Carmel Valley, CA, and sister, Kathryn Broad Sullivan of Issaquah, Washington. His son, John Charles Broad of Dallas TX, and his daughter Pamela Broad of Tiburon, CA, also survive him. John has two granddaughters, Victoria and Amy and two great grandchildren, Joshua and Julia.
A memorial mass will be said at the Saint Mary's College Chapel in Moraga, 1928 St. Mary's Rd. Moraga, CA on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the Y & H Soda Center located on the Saint Mary's College Campus.
