John Patterson Obituary

PATTERSON, John Paul 'Papa John', It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of John Paul "Papa John" Patterson who left us on May 18, 2024, at the age of 59. John is survived by his loving son, John Paul Patterson Jr. and his wife, Emily; his three beautiful grandchildren: John III, Nicholas, and Elizabeth Patterson; his brothers: Ira Patterson (Jodi), Dennis Patterson and Don Ramsey (Cynthia), and all of their children; his father and mother-in Law, Paul and Carol Duquette; his sister-in-law, Dawn Cochran (Ron) and brother-in-law, Paul Duquette (Jen); and all of their children. John is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 32 years, Lisa C. Patterson (Duquette); his mother, Zellar Ramsey; his sisters, Sharon McCroskey, and Carolyn Patterson; his brothers, Clarence Patterson and James Patterson. Always known as "Papa", John was always there to lend a helping hand. To friends and family, he was known as the best sweet tea maker in all of Chesterfield County and best brownie maker ever, whose secret was two handfuls of chocolate chips added to the brownie mix. John loved plinking with his grandkids and family. He never missed a day just "shooting the breeze" with his son and brothers. He was also a great spoiler, driving over an hour to Williamsburg to pick up Barbeque and Beans from Pierce's Bar-b-que to surprise one of us on our birthdays or just because he wanted to. The kindest man you would have ever known, we will miss him tremendously. Per John's wishes, arrangements have been made through the Cremation Society of Virgina. In Lieu of flowers the family requests acts of kindness in John's honor as he was such a selfless, considerate, and kind-hearted man.
