JOHN WORMLEY Obituary
JOHN ERNEST WORMLEY, SR. (Age 82)
Peacefully on December 16, 2013, Rev. Dr. John E. Wormley, Sr. departed this Earthly life. Beloved husband for 62 years of Barbara L. Wormley; devoted father of three sons, John, Jr., Larry, and Michael Wormley and one daughter, Donna Wormley; loving grandfather of Jasmine Wormley. He is also survived by one sister, Ruth Wormley; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Rev. Dr. Wormley was the pastor and founder of the Kingdom of Zion Baptist Church in Washington, DC and he leaves his church family to cherish his memory. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 24 from 9 a.m. until time of homegoing service at 10:30 a.m. at the Isle of Patmos Baptist Church, 1200 Isle of Patmos Plaza, N.E., Washington, DC. Rev. A.L. Gault, officiating. Interment at Maryland National Memorial Park. Arrangements by Pope Funeral Home.

Uncle John was my birthday buddy. I was blessed to be born on the same day, January 3rd. We would always call each other on that day and share birthday wishes. You will always be remembered,not only on our birth day, but also everyday in my heart!

Rev. Wormley was like a grandfather to me and I loved him for that. I remember him blessing me at Kingdom when I was two years old. He was one of the greatest pastors. My prayers as well as my mother's prayers are with the Wormley family.

Rev Wormley was a kind good man, excellent preacher and teacher. I met him through my friend Billy. I joined his church about 6 months ago. I will miss Rev Wormley a lot and he will always be in my heart.
