My Unspoken Eulogy

Johnny was the little brother I always wanted when growing up. At the age of eighteen, I finally got one. Typically Johnny, better late than never! It was one of the happiest days of my life. Although Johnny was my half-brother, there was nothing "half" about him–he was 100% genuine, the real thing- he was golden.
John H. Yates- the "H" was for Hensley, a proud family name in the Yates family. To me, the "H" stood for Honorable in every respect. John was an Honorable father, an Honorable husband, and and Honorable friend to all who knew him. John was an eager Helper to anyone and every stranger, sacrificing whatever little free time he had.
And his HUMOR! We'll never forget his jokes, both practical and not so practical. And his love of nature- a great Hiker, Hunter and fisherman. He had the stories!
John won many Honors and awards for his endless artistic talents.
And what a HEART he had. He was all Heart. And John being an organ donor, he is still giving. That's my brother!

Thank you, Johnny, you'll always be in my heart. I'll miss you.

John was one of my closest friends and roommates in college. We shared many laughs and adventures. He was a friend who you could always count on. Sadly, we lost touch later in life, but I always thought we'd cross paths again. I thought of him every time I passed through Louisville. I'll always cherish the memories of our youthfulness and friendship. Buddy, you will be missed. My condolences to his family and friends. - Dallas Todd Moses (Lexington, KY and St. Louis, MO)
