John Zarra Obituary

John A. Zarra Sr., 83, of Ross, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007. Mr. Zarra was All-New England in baseball and basketball and was drafted by the Boston Braves, for whom he played professional baseball before enlisting in the Marines in World War II. Beloved husband of Catherine (Borgo) Zarra. Loving father of John A. Jr. (Marsha), of McCandless; Thomas M., of Ross, and Anthony P., of Treesdale. Devoted grandfather of Michael, Melissa, Prudence, Courtney and John A. III Zarra and Nicole (Shawn) Saniga. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME INC., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross, 412-364-4444. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Teresa of Avila Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
