JOSEPH RENNA Obituary

On Thursday, December 3, 2009, Joe lost his courageous battle with cancer. He fought a good fight for five years. He was surrounded by his beloved family when the angels came to take him home. Joe was a 1959 graduate of San Joaquin Memorial High School. He worked and owned Renna's Meat Market from 1959 up until his retirement, when his son Joe took over in 2004. In April, 2009, he and Charlotte celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family in Las Vegas. Throughout his life, Joe enjoyed his family, blackjack, racing modified midgets, blackjack, classic Chevy's, blackjack, the corvette club and all the great friends he acquired along the way, and blackjack. "If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever." Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe; mother, Mary; and his dearly loved sister, Marlene. Thinking about Joe & Charlotte today on Christmas morning. It's been a few weeks since the funeral. Still tough to know that he is gone.

Joe became a very good friend to both of us and enriched our lives. He and Charlotte were the reason why we joined the Corvette club which was because we enjoyed their company so much. Joe was part of the cancer club that we are also part of and made it more bearable for all of us. He gave me, David, somebody that I could relate to and he helped me. He said he would never give up and that I could not either. I know you did not give up Joe and neither will I. We will miss you a lot. Mary wanted to let you know that you finished your last set for now.

To Charlotte and Family
As I have mentioned before you and Joe were the two that stood out the most at our first CVC meeting. Of course Charlotte was the President and Joe the Treasurer but I remember how warm and welcoming you both were and that you made a point to come and meet us. I will always remember Joe's smile when we first met him. It was a smile that he has always worn on his face since our meeting. I have a wonderful memory that I will treasure. One of them was our first CVC out of town trip. We went to a Melodrama and Bob wasn't at all excited and I told him to behave that we were new to the club and just deal with it. Well half way thru the show Bob looked over at Joe and he was sound asleep and Charlotte had the same look on her face as I did. Bob poked me and said look at him. I said fine go to sleep and I will wake you when it is over. We had a great time everytime we did something with both of them. Another memory was when Joe and Charlotte had the Christmas walk at their home. At the meeting Joe said bring your kids or grandkids or whoever you want. Well I thought what fun thing for my grandkids to do. They were very young at the time. Well Bob and I rang the doorbell and Joe answered and look at me like what the heck are you doing with those kids here. And I explained that I thought they were welcomed and he got that grin and said of course they are. Well Bob and I were the only ones there with grandkids and Charlotte and Joe set them at the kitchen table and treated them as though they were meant to be there. I would also like to say how warm and welcoming Joe and Charlotte's family is to us. I feel like I have known them forever. I hope to keep that friendship alive. All of our love Bob and Peggy

As all of you know the Jacalones are all saddened by the loss of our Joe. He was like a brother, not a brother-in-law. We will miss him so much. I still can't believe he is gone, but he is no longer in pain and is with the rest of our angels in heaven.
All Our Love,
Aunt Rosemary and Uncle Bob

To someone that will always live on in my heart, mind and through the work of my hands. You saw something in me that I could not and never gave up,” if I could only have looked through your eyes” but it was not for me to see. You have nourished my mind and body that I am able to advance in this world. Through me, you will always live on in this relay of life.

Prayer for the family

O God, you do not willingly grieve or afflict
your children.
Look with pity on the suffering of this family
in their loss.
Sustain them in their anguish;
and into the darkness of their grief
bring the light of your love;
through Jesus we pray.
Amen.
