Joann will always remain in my heart as one of the kindest, sweetest, and compassionate people it has been my pleasure to know. She was there with a smile and a helping hand as I grew from childhood to adulthood, offering encouragement, wisdom, and patience. She was committed to her family, her faith, her friends, and community with her own touch of hometown elegance and values. My family and I extend our heartfelt condolences to hers, with fond memories of the years we shared together growing up in our Stony Point bubble.

Dear Joann was my first Sunday School teacher and gently coached me on my lines for the Christmas pageant in 1954.She sat with me and held my hand for an hour at our daughter, Angela's wake in 2008. I never met a kinder lady. She remains a great role model for us all.

Joann was a very wonderful person. I knew her mostly from when she served as a councilwoman on the Stony Point Town Board. We would sometimes talk before or after meetings about her memories of Stony Point and of her years growing up our home up on Gate Hill Road when her mother ran it as the Gate Hill Inn. She once told me a great story of when Lucien would come up to visit her and he'd bring is rifle along but her mother would make him keep to outside.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time.
