Joyce Bone Obituary

JOYCE LEE BONE

1929 2021

Joyce Lee Bone, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother entered into the presence of the Lord, September 19, 2021. She was born and raised in Bakersfield, California, graduated from East Bakersfield High School and soon thereafter married and became a stay at home mother to 3 daughters.

Joyce was married to her husband of 44 years, Robert Wayne Bone. She resided in Bakersfield for her entire life and after the death of her husband, became the strong family leader for her girls for the next 29 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Claudia Bone, Belinda Bone-Crane (Flint), Melanie Duffield (John). Also, grandsons, Blake (Marina), Austin, and Brock Duffield. She also had five step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. Plus, Susan Hornsby and Laurie Silvius who were not related but were treated like daughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dale Abbott and Irma Harris and her brother Robert Abbott.

Mom was very much a family-oriented woman through the years. She loved spending time with her grown daughters and grandsons who were the center of her life.

Our mother had a very strong faith and love for the Lord. She remained a faithful Christian for all of her life, participating in many church activities over the years.

She will forever be in our hearts and forever missed. She fought hard to the end, and we have gained a new respect for her fighting spirit.

A special thank you to Alicia Webb and the staff at Carrington of Shafter, and Hoffman Hospice for taking car or mom and family.

A visitation for Joyce will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.

I will always remember Joyce as a generous and accepting woman...with an infectious giggle and a heart of gold. I will never forget her depth of spirit and love for all those blessed to have know her. It's been many years since I've seen Joyce but I will never forget her. My most heartfelt condolences to the family: may her spirit live on in all of you.

Joyce was a wonderful example of a Christian woman. Sometimes I would sit with her at CBC...she was a blessing to all who knew her and a classmate of my husband Harold as they both attended First Baptist Church, when they were younger. That group of young adults at First Baptist planted 4 other churches in Bakersfield (maybe more than 4.) I loved the stories of both Harold & Joyce. missjudy

I knew Joyce over 50 years. She was a wonderful and kind person and a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great and great- great grandmother. Her family was the most important thing to her outside of loving the Lord. I hat not seen her for a number of years but when we reconnected it was like time had stood still. She was a wonderful friend. She will be missed and remembered fondly.

I was fortunate to first meet Joyce in the choir at First Baptist Church. It was my delight to play piano for her wedding to Bob on
Sept. 12, 1948 in the church chapel and to know them both for many years. You are so blessed to have had her in your family.

My deepest condolences to all in the Bone family. I grew up across the street from this family and they are an awesome, loving family. There is a brighter star in the sky now.
