Kevin Tennyson Obituary

Kevin Tennyson, of Lynnwood, WA, passed away on March 1, 2014 at Providence Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. Kevin was born in Wichita, KS on September 2, 1957. In 1969 the Tennyson family moved to Washington, where Kevin attended high school. He graduated from Lynnwood High School in 1975 and began attending Washington State University. He finished college later in life graduating from the University of Washington in 1995 with a degree in construction management. As a young man Kevin was a gifted athlete participating in track and football in high school, but his greatest love in life was riding and racing motorcycles. He was also an avid hunter, who liked doing it the hard way...with a bow and arrow. Kevin was never one to back away from a challenge. Even after being paralyzed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 33, he went on to learn how to snow ski on an adaptive ski and became an expert water skier. He adapted a four wheel quad to ride so that he could introduce his kids to the sport that he loved so passionately. Kevin loved to play cards and taught his whole family to play cribbage, ruthlessly beating all contenders. He spent years learning the stock market and understood the financial markets as well as anyone in the industry. He learned to trap shoot from his wheel chair and took home many awards competing against other disabled athletes. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Duaine Tennyson; and his brother, Scott Tennyson. He is survived by his two sons, Tyler Tennyson, of Lynnwood, and Damon Tennyson, of Phoenix, AZ; his mother, Gwen Tennyson, of Lynnwood; his caregiver, April Cheong (Tyler's fiancé); his two ex-wives, Shelly Sims Richards and Tami Anderson Rodriguez; numerous aunts, uncles and countless cousins; and Ryland Richards and Tawnyrae Richards, who also looked up to him as a father. The memorial service will be held at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Rd, Bothell on March 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

Kevin, you are so much a part of my high school memories. We laughed about our connection of being born in the same hospital in Wichita and moving to Washington the same year. I remember watching you on the football field, and afterwards, the fun times that happened hanging out between your house, Tami's, and Scott's down the street. I'll never forget you. Rest in peace, Kevin. Love, Barb
