I never had the pleasure of meeting Lawrence, but I have the honor (and joy) of working with his son Julian. If Julian is any reflection of what Lawrence brought to this world, he must have been a very kind and gracious man. And I imagine funny beyond belief.
My heart goes out to the entire Cowart clan for your loss.

When my daughter Catherine married Julian Cowart, Lawrence´s oldest son I immediately felt welcomed into this large and vigorous family. It didn´t matter one whit that I was a Northerner, a New Englander. Lawrence enveloped everyone who came into his orbit with warmth and caring. A fond memory of him sitting in the living room of his home on holidays surrounded by his adult children, a young child or two including his first born grandson Lawrence Cowart the Second, his name sake, as well as various friends and neighbors, with the happiest smile on his face. He lived for this. Lawrence, so glad to have known you. Memories of you make me smile, and you will always be in my heart.

Condolences to the family of Lawrence Cowart. I worked with Larry at The Coca-Cola Company, and directly for him for a number of years when I was GM of the Fountain Division. Larry was a teacher, a coach, a mentor and a conscience. He was an intellectual powerhouse, with an internal compass and established values that made him so trustworthy. We worked on many projects-- some he would describe as consisting of "bone-crushing pressure"--our own choice to describe our inability to find immediate solutions easily. His secret was to clarify the problem and the solution then be clever at figuring out how to get to the destination. And what made it so rewarding was the competitive zeal and desire to succeed-- which was high as he was a true capitalist- always was tempered by a set of principles and care for the larger impact of both what was accomplished and how it got done. He was a family man... those of us who worked with him would joke at how many of his children's birthdays he needed to attend. The work always got done somehow; in the process we always felt good about it, and the example he set on how to do things was personally meaningful to me. God's speed Larry.

Our condolences to all the families and friends whose time together over the years in this amazing man´s life, surely felt that they were so welcomed, nurtured and cherished. Reading this beautiful obituary gave us a picture of a wonderful man who lived a full and happy life, a man with such a big and generous heart...It´s important to remember that he lives on in each of you in a very special, profound way, never to be forgotten.... Knowing you, Oliver, as a wonderful university friend of our son in Vancouver all those years ago and as an honoured guest at his wedding, we easily recognized and appreciated the fine qualities your father, a true gentleman , instilled in you. In your sorrow, Oliver, we know that you will always feel the blessings of your loving father, his arms around you and that you will know his joy in you. Love never ends...

My Uncle Lawrence told me once: Lucas, every time I felt good about how far I'd gone in life I used to lean back in my office at the Coca-Cola building and survey the Atlanta skyline outside of my windows. Inevitably my eye would come to rest upon the dorm room I had during my first year at Tech, and a small voice would say to me "Lawrence, you haven't really come that far after all!"
