Dr. Larry,
This is Jennifer (little Jenny) the daughter of Dan & Pat Moore. I remember I promised you when I was little that I would come work for you in the clinic. I regret not following through with that dream. You did say you were holding me a spot there. It hurts my heart that I didn´t know of your passing. But I am glad to know you are in heaven, smiling down on us all. I know all the animals who crossed the rainbow bridge are in your care still. Your passion for animals showed through your work. I will forever keep your memory alive. I have talked about you since I was a kid and here I am 38 years old and find myself still talking great things about the impact you made on my life. Thank you for everything you taught me. I will forever cherish the memories of coming to see you with my dad. Fly high and I´ll see you when God calls me home! You will be one of the first I try to find in heaven (besides my family). Be sure to give my mom a hug for me. She´s been gone since 2019 and the pain in my heart just won´t leave me. So I can only imagine how your wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren feel in their hearts as well. Just one last thing, I know that your legacy will live forever! Your kindness and love for everyone you met will hold on to those memories, just like I am. It brings us comfort and a sense of peace. Thank you for everything! I send my love to your loved ones! Fly high and visit often!

As a young veterinary drug rep in Olando, (I'm 63 now) Dr Pulitzer was so very kind to me so I never forgot him. I remember one day I rode with him as he made his horse calls and he was the most caring man I knew. He invited me to his home when he saw I had no family in the area for one Thanksgiving, and showed me films on pasa fino horses. I still remember his talking birds that imitated laughter while we ate. I know there's a special place in heaven for Dr Pultz.

I lived in Winter Springs from 1993 to the end of 2005 and Doc took care of my pets during that time. I respected his opinion and found his advice about the little things enormously helpful. He was so compassionate when I had to put one of my dogs to sleep. He did remind me of John Wayne - he had huge hands too! I remember running into him in the Publix on Winter Springs Blvd after he had spent the night taking care of a sick cow I think it was. Made me appreciate him even more. I am sorry to learn (late) of his passing and I hope he did not suffer. I am sorry for your loss and I hope you know how much he was appreciated. He was one of a kind.

I have missed my great vet "Doc" for a year now, he was the best and I believe he knew everything, he always had a answer for me.And no matter hard or not it may have been it was always theright answer. I was a Himalayan Persian Breeder for 23 years and was with Doc from 1991. I only have one baby now, but when I travel to Orlando and stop at the Clinic, I still feel the Compassion from Everyone.
But in my travels here with my cat Dakota, I have yet to find a vet like the "Doc".B

Dr. Pultz cared for my horses, dogs and cats for years when I lived in Oviedo. He was very special and would go out of his way to help whenever he could. I remember when my dog "Dunkin" (16 years of age) had to be put to sleep, Larry came to my home and was very compassionate and helped me thru the process.
I moved out of the area a couple years ago and was saddened when I found out today of his passing last year.
He will be missed by many and his thoughtfulness and caring for the lives he touched will always be remembered.

Dr. Pultz

I think God sprinkles humanity with special souls to make mankind more palatable. Lawrence Pultz was one of those special souls. We are all privileged that he touched our lives: Some of us through his veterinary practice “Dr. Pultz”; as a friend “Larry”; or as a very special family member. He needed no white coat, or pretense, just to be himself.

In our case, we knew him only through his care of our cats and dogs, and his extra ordinary compassion when our furry friends needed help to pass. He must have been in such situations thousands of time, but was able to get into “the moment” with us with sincerity and compassion, resulting in a closeness and respect that will last to the end of our days.

He seemed to have a special way, a special insight, with both animals and their caregivers, and you could tell that he enjoyed his interaction with both. He “spoke” with his eyes and his broad smile. Our favorite image is when he would put one of our cats under his arm and on his hip for a trip to the “backroom” for special testing.

On two occasions we met him at a Publix late in the evening, on his way home from an obvious long and tiring day. He approached, and although we could tell he was thoroughly fatigued, on both occasions we had a long and enjoyable conversation . He asked about our animals by name, and how we were doing with a true sincerity. As we all know, he was a gifted story teller, and with great appreciation, we were treated to a few on those two occasions.

Unfortunately, we were not aware of his passing until now, and have been very sad with that unwelcomed news. He was one of God's “special souls”, and we question why he was taken from us. The only answer is that he apparently was called back for a new and more important assignment. We know he is happy to be doing God's will, and we are happy that we had an opportunity to know him during part of his short time here on Earth.

It was a joy to have Larry Pultz in my math classes for 4 years in Roosevelt Roads Naval Base school in P.R. He was a great student, always kind and considerate of others, a Young Man of Faith and fun to have in my class. From reading these tributes to him, I can look back and see the Larry 50 years ago who grew into a Man of dignity, honor, love and concern. He will be missed but we all will carry the memories of him in our hearts for years to come. Good bye and one day we will do algebra again! Bob Jones

We were saddened by the news that Larry passed away a few weeks ago. He was a kind and compassionate man who was an anchor for his many friends and family members. We will remember, with fondness, the impromptu graduation celebration for Jen at our home in Fort Collins. The wine and stories were flowing that night! Peace be with all of the people that have been impacted by the loss of this great man.

My very close friend, Dave Hurt, just told me the shocking news recently about Larry Passing. You may recall I used to live in Tuskawilla not far from your family home up until 10 years ago for a period of 9 years. We had numerous Boston Terriers during our 9 years in Winter Springs and Larry was our veterinarian. I used to see Larry almost too often (smiles here), as we had as many as four dogs at the same time for a number of years. Thanks to Dave and his parents, I got to see Larry a number of times away from his offfice.

I remember Larry so fondly as being such a great person. It was always a pleasure to see him and be around him. Naturally, I heard so many wonderful Larry stories from Dave, as I know Dave thought of Larry as being another brother. With this said, please know my heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the family and friends affected. I can't know how you must be feeling, but it must be devastating. I can only hope the passage of time, coupled with a reflection of a lifetime of wonderful memories, will eventually help to ease your pain. Ted

We always considered one another brothers and shared many stories throughout our lives. As we were both dealing with our cancers, not once did Larry complain or express any sadness or self pity. He was a fighter and like many a bull he helped heal when his professionalism was called upon. A finer man is hard to find and he touched so many that his passing is one of our greatest losses.

Our family was saddened to not being able to make the funeral, but we toasted Larry at every opportunity during David and Savannah's wedding. We know that Larry was there with us, smiling proudly on the two that he loved as much as his own. Our hearts, thoughts and tears go out to Martha, Lawrence, Christian, Jennifer and all of the Pultz's and Romer's. The world is truly a lesser place.

We will miss you, Larry! RIP.

Much love,

Larry Pultz was my veterinarian and friend since 1985 and I have more stories than I can ever remember to write down. Larry cared about everybody and it didn't matter how many legs they had. He had a big and generous heart and the skills as a vet to match. He was the only vet I knew that would work on anything to heal it or make it feel better. And that included the owners.
One story in particular I would like to share. It just personifies Larry in so many ways.
Several years ago, my thoroughbred mare sliced her forehead open. Larry came and stitched her face doing his normal beautiful job. I kept the flymask on her during the day so she could not rub the stitches, but took it off at night when she was in her stall since the walls of the stall were smooth. Nothing for her to rub on, or so I thought. After 7 days, the stitches started to itch. That night in her stall, she found an inch of concrete at the bottom of her stall door to rub on. When I came down the next morning, her face looked like hamburger. I just sat in the barn aisle and cried and then ran for the phone to call Larry. When he arrived, I was dancing from foot to foot in misery and agitation, certain there was nothing that could be resewn. Larry, of course, was as patient as a rock and totally unflustered by it all. He cleaned up the mess, cut away the fragments and proceeded to restitch her face. When he was done, he told me to put Preparation H on her face to keep the swelling and itching down. And I left her flymask on 24/7. To this day, her face is perfect and you can see no scars.
But that's not the end of the story. When we pulled the mare out on the aisle and sedated her, I was holding the leadshank. Larry reminded me not to hold her up as the sedation took hold. Of course, I know better than to try to hold up a sedated horse. But I did a very dumb thing anyway. As the sedation took hold and her head got heavier, somehow, I managed to start holding her head up. And then as Larry was stitching her, I realized that she was TOO HEAVY. I couldn't just let go because she was now balanced on me. “Larry, help!! I guess I am holding her up and she is TOO HEAVY.' He didn't fuss at me or even give me a look (which I deserved). He just grabbed the halter, told me to let go and step back, held her up and shook her head until she had reestablished her balance and then continued sewing her up.
So that's how so many visits went. Me worried and anxious about my animals waiting for Doc to come and then Larry making everything right and putting all of us at ease.
With sincere sympathy to the family of Lawrence Pultz. The world is a better place for having had Larry in it.

God Bless you Larry! I didn't know he wasn't well. I should be happy for him that he is no longer in pain. However, the selfish part of me always some found comfort in knowing Larry was out there doing good things.

My prayers go to Martha, Jennifer, Lawrence, Christian, and the entire family for your loss. I also want to say, "Thank you" for sharing Larry.

I met Larry when I when to Puerto Rico in the Summer of 1983. I was visiting my father. Larry helped to counsel and bring me closer to my father. We lived in the apartments on Larry's Father's farm in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. Larry always took time to check in and see how my father and I were doing. Larry was separate from Martha and his kids at time. It was hard for him yet he gave so much of himself to the clinic in Fajardo, the Race Track, the stables on Roosevelt Roads Naval Base, and basically any one that asked or needed his help. He really connected with everyone. He found time to socialize. He wasn't just a Vet., he was a friend. Well, Larry was like a second father to me and he always said, "Me Casa es Su Casa". I stayed in Puerto Rico for the next two years until I graduated from Roosevelt Roads High School in 1985. I was fortunate to know Larry. I when on some Vet. calls with him and met many interesting people. I got to see a Tiger he treated and the world horses (Paso Finos and many other breeds). My father and I experienced more of the culture and lifestyle of Puerto Rico because Larry then we would have otherwise. I can tell by the stories I have read, that Larry touched everyone he knew. He managed so much and had so many close friends. His faith was strong, and I remember him telling me to trust in "JC", meaning Jesus Christ. He liked an occasional cigar, and Johnny Walker. I'll always remember the good times we had and his advise. God bless you Larry and your family!!
I'll see you on the other side...

Dear Tia Martica,Jennifer,Lawrence, Christian, Wendi and extended family, We wanted to share the following, even as we are all still in shock, as a way to send you our love. We have always thought of you fondly as a special part of the family whose lives are an example of the hard work, dedication and love that champions the hope of the American spirit. As I tried to convey to Jennifer via text and speech on the phone, Tio Larry 's generosity of spirit was evident to us too. From what is written, many, even those who only spent a second of time with him, felt the same. The morning of the day he passed, I was looking at a blue bird perched on a tree. I waited in a car line to get my youngest daughter out of a camp program. The air seemed to vibrate. The threat of rain ,perhaps, but I sensed Tio Larry. He came to my thoughts without my conscious knowledge that he had passed. I decided we had to go visit him in Ft. Lauderdale. I called Jennifer. Eduardo had recently given me her cell number. She gave me the news of his passing with a special, warm, quiet strength in her tone of voice, a tone that reminded me of her dad. Just like his person on Earth, her words left me with the impression that Larry passed with a generosity of heart and a peace that defies understanding. This may seem inexplicable except in the hearts of those who knew him best. Our fondest memories of Eduardo and Becky's wedding, apart from the beautiful ceremony, were those spent in conversation with Tio Larry. Gigi, our youngest daughter, was very interested in his profession as a veterinarian. As Gigi and I asked questions, Dr. Larry gave us his undivided attention and generous answers. In fact, he went beyond the call of duty to dedicate his knowledge and life experiences to us. He gave to Gigi the wonderful message that a job is not just a job. It is a way of bringing a little Heaven to Earth and a conduit for developing your soul. He added much about faith , dedication and the people along the way that he helped and helped him. He added stories about the difficulties and joys of engaging in this labor of love. In effect, he turned it into an analogy for life itself! My daughter, at 10, was enchanted with his great respect for her questions and her person. The fact that he, a man of a certain age, was so interested in having a serious, involved conversation with her, a little girl, (in the middle of a wedding filled with so many people) was a moment in her life she will not soon forget. In fact, she treasures it and through her, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and siblings do too! If this was true for Gigi, how must it be for so many who saw him on a daily basis? We are at a loss for how to comfort but we hope this and other evidence that Tio Larry's spirit lives on may help .. Thank you for sharing him with us. Love, Darlene, Peter, Sophie, Cecilia and Gabrielle (Gigi)/ Nicky and Candy too (Christmas schnauzers)

Our family loved Doc Pultz. So firm in his convictions, so passionate in his love of family, so dedicated to his patients. Late afternoon appointments were my favorite. By then you might find him sitting out front with someone's dog on a leash...hanging on to him/her while they wrapped up the paperwork with Jess. Susan searching for him, because there was still a patient in an exam room. That incredible grin...that his children seem to have been blessed with. We were in the exam room one day with one of our boys. Doc looks at Susan with wide eyes, her eyes get wide and she asks,"what?" He says, "nuthin." You probably had to be there to see the wide eyed looks back and forth. We all laughed. The stories, the jokes, the sharing of life, will be missed. We send our love to you, gentle giant. Rest peacefully.

Heartfelt condolences to the family, staff, and friends of Dr. Pultz.

Our family loves Dr. Pultz. My sister had him as her vet for 29 years. She must have been one of his first cutomers.

I moved here three years ago and chose to use my sister's vet. I had 3 cats and took them to Dr. Pultz. My mother - 90 years old - always came with me to appointments. He got to know her and always chatted comfortably with her. Two years after we arrived in the neighborhood, my mother died.

Doc came to her funeral, in spite of his demanding business schedule. A few weeks later I had to bring my cat to his office. He told me he had seen my mother sitting in his office waiting room that afternoon. I believed it. I think Dr. Pultz would be able to see spirits of kind people. It also seemed perfectly rational to me that my mother would like to keep me company at his wonderful clinic.

When he finished checking my cat, he said that he believed my sister and I had been under stress from grief. He said he had reserved for us a bottle of a nice rose wine at the neighborhood wine shop, which he liked to support. I knew his penchant for joking so I asked him, "Are you serious?" He said, "Yes. You can stop by on your way home and pick it up." I went to the wine shop and, sure enough, the man had a bottle for my sister and me as a gift from Dr. Pultz.

Another story happened May 29 this year. My old cat seemed very tired all the time so I asked Dr. Pultz if he would put her on the farm call list. He did and I did not have to take my old kitty to the clinic. Dr. Pultz arrived wearing his cowboy hat and administered her annual shots at home on the kitchen table. I told him that she could not tolerate skin applied flea medicine because it makes her itchy and she scratches off her fur the size of a quarter.

He told me to try Comfortis, a pill given to the cat by mouth. So the next day I went to see Jessica in the clinic to buy the medicine. While I was there, a lady was in the waiting room with her large dog. Then she took the dog outside. Shortly, Dr. Pultz came into the waiting room from his back office. He looked around and then asked if we had seen a lady with a large dog. We told him they went outside. He rushed out to meet her.

I thought he would tell her to come inside, but he didn't. Instead, he went outside and sat on the porch bench with the lady and began checking her dog.

I completed my transaction in the clinic and went out to get my car. Dr. Pultz was still examining the dog and talking with its owner. He waved a friendly goodbye to me. I thought he was very accommodating to meet the needs of the lady, rather than insist that she come inside, which would have perhaps been more convenient for him.

Dr. Pultz was always thinking of the needs of the other person. He truly was the master who is the servant of all.

There are so many stories of doc that I could tell. I guess the one that I remember the most is the first time I met him. I was 14yrs old and new to horses. I was having a problem with one of my horse's legs swelling, and even though she wasn't lame it was quite upsetting to me. Someone at the barn told me that they were having doc come out to do shots for them and I should ask him to take a look while he was there. I had been an extremely shy child, and at that time in my life I was still working on my social skills with new people. So you can imagine the mini panic attack I had at the thought of approaching and talking to this huge man with the deep voice. Especially since I had been treated badly by a few other "horse professionals" already. So I gathered all my courage and asked him to come look, and after a few minutes he determined that it was nothing but fluid from standing too much. He took his time to show me where the calcium deposits were on her legs so that I could keep an eye I them. Never once did he treat me like a child, or an annoyance. Doc was one of the people who helped me find my courage, and was always there when you had a problem or needed to talk. He loved to share his knowledge and he truly loved all of his animal patients. I will miss his crooked smile and infectious sense of humor. Love u Doc.

It is with a great sadness and tightness in my chest that I write this memorandum to Dr. Pultz because I loved him more than just as my vet, but as someone who was like a father to me. From the day I met him over 25 years ago there was a great fondness. He always looked out for me. He also became fast friends with my own father and that in itself meant the world to me. Knowing that I had two strong willed tough guys with hearts of gold both in my corner at all times always kept me walking with my head held high.
If I were to mention all of the special moments I had with Dr. Pultz I would have to write a book.
I met Dr. Pultz when I was about 10 years old. I was getting my first horse and from the moment we met I could tell he was going to watch out for me. He not only wanted me to learn everything there was to know about caring for my horse, but he also wanted to see me ride and know exactly who would be teaching me, what saddle we would use, what kind of feed we would feed, etc, etc. He would tell me that I was to groom Sonny for 30 minutes before and after each ride because that is how the bond would form between he and I. He also told me that I was special and that I had a gift that not everyone had. I don't know if he ever realized the impact of his words or how much confidence he gave me as a rider.
Over the years we grew as a horse family. We got new horses and started showing more and more. When I was 15 I got my first nice Reining horse and my parents and I were taking him to the Quarter Horse Congress in Ohio. Dr. Pultz called me before we left and told me I was to call him with the results. We did not do so well at this show, but he told me that I needed to have the first big one under my belt and that I would be fine. Later I got another horse, Joe, and began showing a lot around the country. Dr. Pultz would come over to the house to see my dad and check on Joe to be sure he was sound for the shows and would always have kind words of encouragement for me. We started winning a lot that year and things were really picking up. When I won my National title in Oklahoma, Dr. Pultz was among the very first who I called to share the big news. He didn't have many words, but to hear him tell me he was proud of me meant the world. Then later I saw the magazine that I was on the cover of with Joe displayed proudly in his office. I felt like I was on top of the world!
As the years went by and I went away to college I would continue to come and visit Dr. Pultz when I was back in town. If too many months went by he would call me to check on me to make sure I “wasn't getting into trouble.”
Later I moved to New York City for work and I could tell this worried Dr. Pultz. He insisted on giving me the phone number of his relatives and instructed me to call them upon my arrival so that I would have “family” in the big city. Again he would periodically call to check in on me or would ask my parents for a report. Again, each time I would come home I would be sure to go and see Dr. Pultz.
He taught me so much about animals too. He helped solidify my confidence in myself. He always had compliments. Don't get me wrong, he also was the first to tell me when he didn't like a decision I was making too!
For being such a tough, strong man, Dr. Pultz had such a calming and gentle way. He always had the right words at the right time. He could calm any animal by speaking words in Spanish in that low booming voice. I was always amazed at how he could use that tone and the animals seemed to relax. He had that effect on me as well.
When he spoke, I listened.
When the time came for Sonny to be put down, Dr. Pultz came over and pulled me aside. He knew that Sonny was the love of my life and he knew I was a shell of a person knowing what had to be done. He hugged me and made me look into his eyes and said to me “You know this is right and that you are doing this out of love. He can't suffer any more and you will get through this time.” When I brought Sonny down to his final resting place and Dr. Pultz gave him his shot Sonny and I both went down at the same time. Dr. Pultz let me lay there with my beloved horse for a moment and then he picked me up and hugged me and told me to walk away and not to look back. It was the hardest moment of my life, but he made me feel strong and I had no regrets.
That kind of gentle, yet strong love is what sums up Dr. Pultz to me. I feel a great void knowing that he is gone. I've thanked God every day since I heard the news of his passing that just a little over a month ago, before I moved away for the summer, t I got to go in and have a visit with Dr. Pultz. He wanted to know where I was going and what exactly I would be doing. He wanted to be sure that my dog had everything she needed and he just wanted to sit and talk for a few minutes. I knew he had gone in for a procedure the day before I saw him because my Dad told me. I asked him how that went and he shrugged it off and said everything would be fine and that I was going to have a great summer and he was happy for me. I hugged him, not knowing at all that it was goodbye for the last time.
All I can say is that I have emptiness inside of me knowing that this great man is gone from the world. However, just like he said about all the animals that I loved and had to let go, he can't suffer anymore and we will get through this time. The animals never really leave us and neither will our great and beloved Dr. Pultz.
I can't fully express the sadness I am feeling. When my Mom called me to tell me the sad news I had a post card written that I was on my way to mail to Dr. Pultz from Martha's Vineyard telling him that the tick medicine I got from him for my dog was working like a charm and that I would see him in September to show him photos of our adventures. The world immediately felt emptier after that phone call, but I have since come to the conclusion that the animals in heaven are all welcoming Dr. Pultz into their lush green pasture. They are able to give him the love that he gave to them. He can hug my Sonny, Spinner, Billie, Big Boy, Second Boy, Abbey, Fancy, H, Mich, Savannah and the countless cats that we loved so much.
I know Dr. Pultz is in Heaven and that I have another angel. His words and memories will continue to guide me through my journey in life.
Dr. Pultz was a special man and meant so much to my family and me. I feel blessed to have known him and know how much I miss him as well.
To the family, Jennifer, Lawrence, Christian and Martha – I am sending you all of the love that I have. He was so proud of all of you and loved to tell stories about each one of you. Thank you for sharing your Dad with me for those special moments in my life. He was a great vet and man and will be dearly missed. Love to you all. – Rebecca Rasmussen

Jennifer asked that we share our stories. I have many. But the one that I want to share is of my daughter, Jen, and her horse. We had lost her pony a month earlier. Doc was there to help him cross the rainbow bridge. A woman I barely knew offered to give us her Thoroughbred mare. I initially declined, because I was worried that her hocks, which had fused, would be very expensive to treat. Well, turns out, this mare was a former 3 star level eventer and had been the intermediate eventing horse of the year. When I finally told Doc about her, he insisted that I get her xrays and he would look at them. After he saw the xrays, he called me and said something in Spanish, which translated to mean that "when something bad happens, a doorway opens to something good." It sounded cooler coming from him, but he told me to go get this horse and if I didn't get her immediately, he was going to go pick her up and bring her home for my daughter, Jen. When I let him know we had gotten her, he told me to stop by the office, and there was a bag of goodies waiting for my daughter...a tub of his favorite saddle soap, joint supplement and some other items. Impulsive really disliked vets, and she knew when Doc was coming. She knew hours before hand and if we didn't have her stalled for his visit, she would be difficult to catch. But Doc always took his time with her to administer vaccines and would sing to her in Spanish. It seemed to help. Doc always wanted to know how Jen and Imp were doing in their competitions and when we would travel outside the state, which meant having Doc come and give a health certificate, he wanted to make sure I let him know how they did afterward. When we retired Imp years later, Doc invited Jen and I to come look at his horses in hopes of finding Jen's next mount. When Imp crossed the rainbow bridge, he was there. He was always so gentle, so kind and we are going to miss his stories! I would go home from his visits and relay his stories to my husband and kids. There are so many!
Jennifer, your tribute yesterday was so touching and I know your father is so proud of all of you. He touched the lives of so many and will be deeply missed.

Dear Martha, Jennifer, Family, and beloved staff at the office,
Michael and I, and our dog met Doc 22 years ago--happened to work and manage at one of his favorite restaurants-Toucan Willies-across the street from his office. His famous call in for take-out: jalapeno poppers and fish dip-multiple orders- to share, and depending on how long the night vigil might go... a quick golden margarita or Johnny Walker.
The friendship he offered--the compassionate words he always had for us when we came in, he was not just helping and curing your beloved pet--but had inspired and helped you too.
To Doc's last visit to our home this past fall, to help us say goodbye to one of our longtime beloved dogs. He helped make the passage as sweet and gentle as it could ever be. I was so glad through this passage, he happened to love the music I was playing in the background, a Buenos Aires guitarist "Alex Fox"- especially "Malanguena". He said in that strong but so sweet voice, "I want this". Immediately, we made sure all 6 cds we had, become his. He told us a few months later, when he got home from a long day, he would go out to the fire pit, put on the music, with a cigar perhaps? and said it took him away. It was such a tiny gift for such a huge man in our life. We shall miss you dearly-God Bless you Doc. Love, Candy and Michael

One of many memories over the last 25 years was the day he came out to give my 15 - 20 cats their annual shots. There was a handsome stray tux cat we called Socks that we fed on the front porch. After all the shots Socks showed up while we were talking. I told Doc I sure wish I'd had him bring another vac shot for Socks. Walla, he produced one and proceeded to give the shot. That cat got so mad he attacked Doc and chased him all over the acreage. Doc was laughing so hard he could hardly run. Finally the cat gave a few huffs and grunts and came back to eat. Doc came strolling back to the house still laughing and said "now that's a man's cat". He called me later and said if I caught him up he's neuter him for nothing because he was such a cool cat. There are many more stories I could tell expressing compassion and big heart, but I thought this one showed what a really great sense of humor he had.

A story about Doc. only one? there are so many memories of this man over the past 25 years. I remember when I first met him, my then pup Pompom had eaten an orchid and was going to die. He stood there with me, I was in tears and he gently took the babe and started talking/humming sort of in Spanish to this poor sick little thing. He was so kind and gentle with the smallest animals in those huge hands. I wasn't long before I knew his heart was as big as he was and he made house - farm calls to boot. How many times his familiar truck would be pulling up in the driveway to the delight of our daughters. Both Jessica & Melissa loved him so much. Melissa started training dogs at the age of 10 and he would take the time to watch her newest trick or exercise she taught them with his big grin always incouraging her.
He seemed to always have the time for a child's attention. I remember the coins he would keep in his pocket for the children who came by the office for the M & M machine.
Larry, Doc will be so missed by all the Coley's human and furry.
May God be with all his family in his home and office and many friends during this time of great loss.

I remember the first time I met Doc my wife (girlfriend at the time) had told me to take my sick dog into the vet and have Doc check it out. When I got there I guess my wife had told him I was coming and as soon I walked in I knew he was checking me out to see if I was suitable for her. He was like a father to all including our animals and he will be deeply missed.

LARRY LIVES

Larry to his family and close circle, Dr. Pultz to the majority of people he touched, was one of those few beings we come across in life that leave an indelible mark in all of us. A mark, which stealthily engendered in all of us an inexplicable joy and gratitude for the privilege of having known him and for the time he spent with us.

His large frame, his welcoming simile, his outpour of warmness and his unique humor, although enchanting, where just little more than a small introduction to the full treatment. His love for all creatures in the universe and unconditional for his family, his patients and his clients; his immense compassion and generosity; his complete dedication; his perseverance and his boundless capacity to work, was so powerful and all encompassing, that before you new it you had fallen under his spell. And what a wonderful and real spell it was.

His parting leaves with me a strange sadness, I longed for him to retire so we could hang around, travel and visit farms and the countryside, which was our common ground... But it also leaves me with a strange joy and understanding. Although sudden and startling, it was also orderly and organized, as if he had completed his job and needed to move on, and so he did.

Larry was a Loving Man, sensible, compassionate, generous, dutiful, hard working and fun... And wow could he sing... if you got him going, Sinatra came to mind. He gave it all, he lived it all, and he had his share of suffering, including the death of his daughter Sandra, at a young age. He leaves a beautiful loving family, imprinted with his traits, and even a great grand daughter.

In short, Larry lived a full and complete life, and he still lives in all of us. He lives in the heart of all of us that he touched, even if it was for a brief moment.

I'm certain we all feel nothing but gratitude for him. He was a great human being and undoubtedly he's now a very special and even more loving soul.

Love you Larry,

Alvaro.

Dear Jennifer and the Pultz family,
My wife Debbie and I learned of Larry's passing upon our return from vacation where we were in North Carolina last week. We were in complete disbelief and very saddened as reality set in.
I knew Larry from our years in Puerto Rico when we had horses there. He took me under his wing as I had a great interest in animals and even considered a Veterinary career. Aside from our friendship I knew Larry as a compassionate human being and a true friend since then. Here in Oviedo he frequently stopped by for a Churrasco steak or a Sandwich at my little former eatery and catering shop. Each time I tried not to charge, he insisted on paying and made sure he overly tipped my staff. If I ever refused his money he would show up with a few bottles of his favorite wine as a gift. We both enjoyed talking about life and he always had something to say to make me laugh. When the economy was starting to dwindle, he knew by looking at me that things weren't going well. He said in his usual stern way "you just need a boost". He posted on his billboard at Town and Country an advertisement for by business, ordered caterings and sent people to me. I outlasted other big name restaurants in the area because of his influence in the town.
I know how it feels to lose a father. Just months ago my own Father went to be with God. He too was a man of honor, and unwavering loyalty to all who knew him. Hence my admiration for Larry as they both had in common the philosophy of "help your fellow man no matter their origins, or the color of their skin. Many people that I didn't even know showed their respects for Dad and it helped me through that difficult moment.
Rest assured that Larry is at the right of the Lord for he lived his life very true to his faith in God.
And remember that the Lord said: "Blessed are the mourners for they shall be comforted".
A big sincere embrace to you and our deepest condolences to your Mother and siblings from the entire Velez family.
Truly yours,
Luis and Debbie Velez and Family.

Our condolences are offered to Dr. Pultz's family; it is with a saddened heart that we received news of Larry passing away. I had the privilege of being a classmate and friend of Larry at Roosevelt Roads High School. Even in those early days, as teenagers, it was evident to all that Larry was a remarkable person with a bigger than life personality and the warmest of hearts. It was good to have had the opportunity to spend time with him, and the memories are treasured. He is missed by many. God's peace.

Doc, thank you for all the time and tears you shared with us when it came time to send our sweet Lizbeth over the rainbow bridge. When we moved to Lake Pickett Woods and asked you about a breed to add to our family you said get a Rhodesian Ridgeback. We took your advise and Lizbeth joined our family for ten wonderful years until she was taken by the same dreadful desease that took you from us. You came to the house and sent her softly over the bridge and it is a comfort to know that you are there to watch over her now.You also cared for our other critters and we thank you for that as well. The world will be a poore place without you. God be with your family and watch over them in the days ahead.

Dr Pultz graciously met us at his clinic on a Sunday afternoon to release our beloved golden Shadow from his suffering. And yet, he had never even met us. This was typical of the kind man we came to know as we brought our other animals into his care over the years. I enjoyed reading his heartfelt opinions on his sign and always looked forward to the next one as I am sure many did. He will be greatly missed.

I can hardly put into words how sad I am to hear the news of "Docs" death. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family and staff. He was not only my vet< but a good friend as well. He took such good care of my"Magic" and when it was time to put him down, he was so kind and comforting. He knew how sad I was and 2 months later he brought this 8 week old kitty into Roget's and said he was leaving him for us to watch for a few hours while he attended to some animal needs. Well, that was it. I became mommy to "Martini". He's the best gift I ever received and I have thanked "Larry" every single day for my baby boy. We will both miss him very much. We've lost a gentle giant, and heaven has gained an angel.

Thank you for the wonderful care of all our animals!

Having read through these entries, I realize that Milt and I were among many who had great admiration and appreciation for Doc. I agree with all and want to add that our dogs were cared for very skillfully and carefully for 18 years. He was always there when we needed him, not the least of which was when our dog, Mandy, slammed her paw into a window trying to get to an offending lawn mower passing by! Immediate surgery. As shocked and sad as we are, I pray for and grieve with the Pultz family.

The news of Dr. Pultz's passing came as a huge shock. My family and I have known the Pultz family for over 15 years; my sister and I went to high school with Lawrence and Christian. I also knew Dr. Pultz as my vet and was always so thankful for how lovely he was to me when I had to put my beautiful cat down when she got sick. His strong hugs just made you feel so at home.
