Lucille Chunis

87, passed away October 22, 2007. Born, raised and educated in the Boston area. She was the wife of Theodore Chunis they were married for 32 years until his death in 1980. Lucille and her husband owned and operated the Queen Mary Grill in Montreal, Canada, in the early years of their marriage. Upon returning to the Boston area they owned and operated 40 Broad Street Restaurant in Boston's Financial District, and second restaurant on Francis Street in the hospital district. Before her marriage Mrs. Chunis worked for the Commandant at the Boston Naval Shipyard, also a Real Estate Broker for Better Homes and Gardens, and worked for the Social Security Administration. They retired to Cape Cod where she worked for Northeast Fisheries division of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. In that position she manned radio communication between the Fisheries and Russian and other nations ships traveling near U.S. waters. Lucille also worked part time for the Cape Cod Times in the circulation department. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, also grand nieces and nephews. Lucille was predeceased by her siblings Rita Lenos, Alice Karchenes, William Karchenes and Arthur Karchenes. Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2007, from 5-7PM, at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., HYANNIS, MA. A service will be Saturday at 11:00AM, at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, 1130 Falmouth Rd., Centerville, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Visiting Nurse Assoc. of Cape Cod, 255 Independence Drive, Hyannis, MA 02601.
