MILLBURY – Frances M. (Lulu) Chunis, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25th, 2022, with her loving family by her side.
Fran was the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Stella V. (Podeski) Lulu of Uxbridge. Fran graduated from Uxbridge High School in 1950. At a very early age Fran worked for her father at his diner and family turkey farm. Fran went on to work at Big D Supermarket for 20 years, then retired from David Clark Company after 15 years. Fran enjoyed working so much she continued working part-time for several more years at Country Candle in Millbury where she finally retired, and of course for many years she was the Queen of Mr. C's on Friday nights.
Fran met her future husband, Pete Chunis at a polka dance. Pete took one look at Fran, asked her to dance and the rest is history.they wed November 27, 1958, going on to have 3 children: Peter, Thomas and Donna.
Fran deeply enjoyed dancing polkas. She was at her happiest when she was either dancing or surrounded by her family.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, friends and family going on cruises, polka weekends, Alaska, Europe and other destinations including celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii.
Fran was a gentle and kind soul. She was very giving and cared deeply for her family. She wouldn't think twice about lending a hand even when not asked. Fran's most pride and joy were her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her husband, Pete, was the love of her life. She was always there supporting her family, encouraging them, and being their rock. Everyone who knew Fran knew that she was the most loving and caring wife, mother, grand and great grandmother a family could ask for.
In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her husband Pete, sister Arlene Klazer and brother Joseph Lulu. She is survived by her sons: Peter (wife Krysia), Tommy (wife Michelle) and daughter Donna Dombrowski (Rich), her 10 grandchildren: Peter, Tatiana, Joshua, Emily, Nicholas, Zachary, Kaitalyn, Lili, Jarek and Mikaella and 3 great grandchildren: Adelyn, Thomas and Kristen, her brother Robert Lulu and sister Eleanor Wood.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers and Salmon Home Care for the exceptional care they provided over the last year.
Family and friends will honor and remember Fran's life with a time of visitation on Thursday, June 30th from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid's Church, 59 N. Main Street in Millbury. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.

Pete, Tom, and Donna, I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing, but she can now be the love of her life. She was such a fun and beautiful woman who helped raise such fine kids as yourselves. I can still remember how she hung the rosary on the cloths line to keep it from raining on Donna's wedding day...should have kept them up all day! Mom is going to try and make it up for the funeral but I will still be having a liturgy for your mom on Aug 3, forty days from her going home. I love you all and wish I could be there.
