Lucille Roustio Obituary

Lucille Vickers "Lou" Roustio, nee Bennett, 93, of Glen Carbon, formerly of Collinsville and East St. Louis, died Dec. 21, 2012, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon and thus took 'flight home' to be with her Heavenly Father to begin life eternal as promised by her acknowledged Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lou was born June 23, 1919, in East St. Louis, the daughter of Emerson Vickers and Mary, nee Shull, Bennett. She married Melvin P. "Bud" Roustio. He preceded her in death as did sisters, Irene Hughes, Elizabeth Croak, Mary Katherine Martin and brother, A.J. Bennett.

Lou is survived by three sons, Mel J. (Gerry) Roustio of Decatur, Tom (Vicky) Roustio of Glen Carbon and Marty (Denise) Roustio of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren, Steve (Kathy) Roustio of Granite City, Dawn (Shawn) O'Keefe of South Barrington, Pam (Tim) Howell of Jacksonville, Scott (Michele) Roustio of O'Fallon, Ill., David (Angie) Roustio of Independence, Mo., Melanie Naylor of Glen Carbon, Nathan (Ann) Roustio of Dallas, Texas, and Shane (Sophie) Kiel of Dallas, Texas; 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Roustio and her husband, Mel (Bud) owned and operated Roustio's Restaurant in Collinsville for nearly 15 years. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Collinsville and she actively supported efforts for the Shriner's Hospital for Children.

For the past several years, Lou had resided at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon where she experienced excellent care and forged numerous friendships. While living at Meridian, she was active in Vespers and various other Church service offerings.

Among the aforementioned, Lou leaves behind many relatives and friends. Her love for family was only surpassed by her love of God.

Memorials in Mrs. Roustio's name may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 305 S. Illinois St., Belleville, IL 62222 or First United Methodist Church, 207 W. Church St., Collinsville, IL 62234. Online condolence may be expressed at www.valhallagardensandfuneralhome.com

Roustio Family.. I was sad to hear of the passing of Mrs. Roustio. I worked at "Roustios" as a teenager for Tom Roustio. Mr & Mrs. Mel Roustio were always so kind and treated you as part of their extended family. Remember the joy she shared with each of you. Little Bel

We were so sorry to read of your Mother's passing. We had wanted to get there to see her, but hadn't made it yet. We don't get to Meridian very much any more. Mel, a friend has had us out for dinner twice since Merle's Mother passed.
Your Mother was a Great and Fun Lady, we loved her. The obituary was written beautiful. We are sorry but we will miss the funeral we will be in Ohio.
