Margaret King Obituary

Margaret Rosenfeld King 85, of Pearland, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father December 25, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Margie was born April 21, 1928 in El Paso, Texas. She was the youngest in the family of seven children. As the "baby" of the family, she was given much loving care and attention from her older brothers and sisters.
Margie grew up in the Montrose area. She attended Sidney Lanier Junior High and throughout the years was always proud of having been a "Purple Pup". She attended Lamar High School and maintained life-long friendships with many fellow students. Margie was active in school and grew up enjoying school dances, cheerleading and participating in back-yard basketball sessions with her brothers. She took part in contributions to the war effort when her three brothers and her brother-in-law were serving in WWII.
After graduation from Lamar High School, Margie attended the University of Houston and studied art. For a great part of her life she continued with her love of art and produced many beautiful canvases, proudly owned by her family.
On November 7, 1950 she married US Marine Charles L. King, who proudly served our country in China during WWII, and remains a member of the China Marines Association. They lived in Waco, Brownsville, and in Mexico, before returning to the US in 1963 to make their home in Houston.
Margie was a loving mother and wife, and spent much of her adult life managing a beautiful home for her family. When her children were older, she worked at Johnson Space Center, Texas International Airlines, and eventually retired from Continental Airlines.
Family was most important to Margie. She loved getting together with her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family members for big family reunions, and she loved a good party. A beautiful, vivacious woman, Margie was at ease entertaining dignitaries in grand style, or hosting hamburger cookouts with friends. She loved to cook and paid tribute to her Mexican and German heritage by perfecting dishes from both countries. She was famous among family and friends for her stacked enchiladas and her German pastry apple pie.
Margie is survived by Charles L. King, her loving husband of 63 years; her son Charles King Jr. and wife Rose of Friendswood; her son Robert King and wife Deborah of Pearland; her son David King and wonderful family friend Lyuda Wales, both of Houston; and her daughter Margo Timmins and husband Dan of Houston. She is also survived by her granddaughters Elizabeth Hegi, Ashley King, Logan Timmins and Graysan Timmins, and great-grand children Maverick Hegi and Natalie Hegi. Other survivors are her sister Julia Finger, brother Ferdy Rosenfeld, sister-in-law Denise Rosenfeld, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and family friends.
Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Frances Rosenfeld, her sister Rosalie Salinger, brother-in-law Dr. Alfons Salinger, sister Josephine Faulkner, brother-in-law OC Faulkner, brother Dickie Rosenfeld, brother Buddy Rosenfeld, sister-in-law Noni Rosenfeld, brother-in-law Joe Finger, and sister-in-law Sally Rosenfeld.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013 in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer. Interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

Dear Margo and family, I loved your parents like my own as we grew up together. I have great memories of time in your home and feel very blessed to have spent so much time with your family. Your dear mother was like a second mom to me as a young girl. Blessings to Mr. King and all of you as you celebrate your mom's life and the 63 years of marriage they shared. What a blessing. Dear Bob, Deborah and King family,

What a wonderful and full life Margaret lived!!! If we all could be so fortunate!

Having been a friend of Bob's for so many years, I only had the privelage to meet her on a few special family occasions, but each time was a treat as we had great conversation. She was clearly a genuine person, so easy to talk to and carried herself with noticeable class.

Be comforted in your cherished memories and know that her love is alive in each of you. She is free of all pain and suffering and in good company as she joins other loved ones in heaven.

God bless you and keep you,

Alan Cawley and family

Little Mommy I love you so much, I feel so privileged to be part of you loving family, each time I think of you it is with a smile and the joy that you had for your family. I always loved the stories you told of growing up with your family, about the Victory Garden and how all your brothers came home from the war all within 24 hours. I cherish the story you told me of Bobby when he was a child. I also loved the way you and Dad always had a toast every night to your family and to the Troops and the good old USA. I know how much you loved me and I loved you right back. You may be gone from our sight but never from our hearts, you live in each one of us for always. Until we meet again I love you Little Mommy. Love you always Deborah

Charlie, Rose, and King Family-

Our prayers are with you in this time of loss. We always enjoyed the fellowship at your home with Margie (and your Dad of course) so many times when our lives were younger and simpler. You, like us, have been blessed with great parents, whose model we attempt to follow.

Margie has left us to join God in Heaven . . . for eternity. As my father stated in his final days, if we behave, we'll catch up. Let's all plan to spend eternity in Heaven with family and friends.

Sincerely,
