Marion LeBon Obituary

On Sunday morning, August 14, 2016 Marion Schlosser LeBon, age 92, quietly passed away in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family. "Mimi", as she was affectionately called, was born on May 7, 1924 in New Orleans, La. to the late Mary J. Calamari and Anthony J. Schlosser, Sr. She is survived by her siblings, Audrey S. Proctor, Baton Rouge, La., and Anthony J. Schlosser, Jr. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Mimi graduated from Ursuline Academy and Loyola University. While at Loyola, she met her future husband and love of her life, Doctor Lawrence J. LeBon, Jr. Mimi and Doc were college sweet hearts and while he studied dentistry, Mimi was an English and Journalism major. She had the honor of being the first woman editor of the Loyola Maroon Newspaper and was offered a scholarship to law school after her graduation. Mimi and Doc were married at Holy Name of Jesus Church on May 22, 1944. They shared a wonderful life, full of love and adventures, until Doc's death in 1981. She spent time at her second home in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, where she was an honorary member of "The Magnolias." With the help of her devoted granddaughter, Ashley Dorsey, Mimi continued to fulfill her wish to live and entertain family and friends in her uptown family home until her death. Marion was a true Renaissance woman, known for her beauty, personality, love of life, keen intelligence, gourmet cooking, and beautiful garden. She loved to entertain, and was already planning her annual Christmas Eve Party where all were welcome. With all these attributes and more, she will be remembered most for her kindness and generosity to all. Mimi is also survived by her loving children: Suzanne L. Dorsey; Lawrence J. LeBon III (Dr. Susan); Doctor Brian G. LeBon (Malia); all of Metairie, La.; and Lisa L. Cowand (Norman) of Bay St. Louis, MS. She was dearly loved by her 14 grandchildren: Ashley LeBon Dorsey; Allyson D. Tuttle (Paul); Michael M. Dorsey, Jr. (Nicole); Lauren E. LeBon PHD, (Nick); Lawrence J. LeBon IV (Kimmie Jo); Katie S. LeBon; Brian G. LeBon Jr. (Emily); Parker D. LeBon (Alison); Conner L. LeBon; Taylor M. LeBon; Norman L. Cowand (Mary); Brian G. Cowand; Lawren L. Cowand (Jonathan); and Tyler M Cowand. Mimi also adored her three great-grandchildren: Nathaniel R. Tuttle, Ian J. Tuttle, and Amelie Grace Cowand. She will be greatly missed by her dear cousin, Francis T. Nelson. A wake will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, LA, on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 5 – 8:00 p.m. On Friday, August 19, 2016 a short visitation will be held at The Most Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6367 Saint Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA from 10-11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. To the family of Marion LeBon,
My sincere condolences for your most precious lost. My godfather was Marion s husband, Dr. Lawrence LeBon. I had an opportunity to visit Marion at her uptown home may be within the last year and was so thrilled to see her again as it had been a very long time before that, other than a brief hello at her sister-in-law funeral, Irene LeBon Henry. Marion, in my opinion, is one of the sweetest woman I have ever had the pleasure to know. I can only imagine how much her family loved her as I loved her very much, not even seeing her very often. I felt as though she treated me as a grandchild and made me feel very comfortable being with her. I am sure God has welcomed her in heaven to be with him.
