Martha Huffman Obituary

Martha Huffman, born on February 5, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House on January 22, 2026, at the age of 76. She will be missed by her family and friends who loved her very much.

Martha grew up in Steele, Missouri, and Blytheville, Arkansas. She graduated from Blytheville High School and went on to attend Vanderbilt University, Baylor University, and Memphis State University, where she earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Psychology. She dedicated many years of her career to hospice care, serving as the Volunteer Coordinator at both Methodist Hospice in Memphis and Capital Caring Hospice in the Washington, D.C., area.

A member of Second Baptist Church in Memphis, Martha sang in the choir for many years, often as a soloist. She also enjoyed volunteering at the annual pumpkin patch. Martha had a love for reading, movies, music, learning new things, her birthday club of many decades, and was a fan of the Memphis Grizzlies and Memphis Tigers Basketball. She also cherished her silly dogs, Betty, Leila, and most recently Angel.

Martha valued her many friendships, both lifelong and more recent. She was always curious and intelligent, with a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Most of all, she loved her family: her daughter Elizabeth Ingram and her husband Jonathan, and their boys Ben and Jack; her son Garth Carson and his wife Tricia, and their soon-to-arrive baby boy Henry and Rickey Carson; and her nieces and nephews and their families: Jake, John and Doug Dietrich, Katharine Huffman, Dora Mullenix, and Jackson Huffman.

She was predeceased by her parents, Dora Coppedge Huffman and Frank Jackson Huffman, Sr., her sister Rebekah Huffman Dietrich, and her brother Frank Jackson Huffman, Jr.

The Memorial Service will be Monday, February 2nd at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church. The visitation will be at 10:00 AM also at Second Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Second Baptist Church Music Department, Baptist Reynolds Hospice House, or the Memphis Humane Society.
