Barbara Jean Huffman

1935 - 2026

Barbara Jean Huffman, 90, of Orlando, FL passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026. She was born in Indianapolis on March 22, 1935, the daughter of Orval and Ruth Brown.

On June 19, 1954, she married Norman Glen Huffman in Germany. They were married for 25 years and continued to be close friends for life.

Barbara studied at Clearspring, Vallonia, and Medora schools before attending Seymour High School as a proud member of the class of '52. She graduated from Indiana University in 1958 with a major in business and a minor in mathematics.

She went on to teach math in Owensboro, KY, fifth and sixth grades in Kokomo, IN, and business subjects in Berea, OH. She then became a math editor for Scott Foresman in Glenview, IL before accepting a position as a national math consultant with Laidlaw Brothers in River Forest, IL.

In 1988, Barbara established Huffman & Associates, Inc in Orlando, FL providing editorial services to major textbook publishers.

Her primary interests in life were her family and her work. In her leisure time, she was an avid reader and she enjoyed watching college sports. Thank you IU football for making her final football season so exciting and memorable. This championship and the 1953 men's basketball championship, won in her freshman year at IU, bookend the years of her well-lived adulthood.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Rhonda Kay Huffman. Her daughter, Ramona Huffman, is her only survivor.

Friends may visit with Barbara's family on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Voss and Sons Funeral Service and from 1:00 pm until the service at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Jon Gibson of The Point will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her parents at Riverview Cemetery.
