Martha Patrick Obituary
Martha Ann Patrick, 92, of Rustburg, passed peacefully on September 25, 2024, at her Hillcrest Farm residence. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Henry T. Patrick III.
Martha Ann was born February 24, 1932, daughter of the late W.R. "Bob" and Bessie Adeline Hitt Shelton of Elon, VA. In addition to her husband; and parents; she was predeceased by her son H.T. "Tom" Patrick, IV; and brother W.T. "Bill" Shelton.
She is survived by her children, Annette Patrick of the residence, Diane (Carr) Wilkinson of Rustburg and Robert Patrick of Halifax; six grandsons, Joseph Carr (Amy) of Midlothian, Matthew Carr (Erin) of Davidson, NC, Christopher Carr (Rebekah) of Lynchburg, twins H.T. "Hank" Patrick, V (Melinda) and Andrew Patrick, and James "J.R." Patrick, Jr. all of Rustburg. Also, she leaves seven great- grandchildren: Olivia and Levi Carr of Midlothian; Penelope, Maxwell and Theodore Carr of Davidson, NC; Liberty and Nathan Carr of Lynchburg; and her brother David Shelton (Julia) of Lexington, NC.
Gifted with length of years, Martha Ann enjoyed the many seasons of her life, basketball in school, LGH Nursing, devoted farm wife and mother. She hosted many family reunions and visitors to Hillcrest Farm, enjoyed gardening, sewing and was a caregiver to elder family members. She knew many through work in various tax and accounting positions and was a member of Rustburg United Methodist Church.
A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Jay Carey officiating. Interment will be private in the Dinwiddie/Patrick family cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
