Martin Riego Obituary

Martin Joseph Riego passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the age of 71. He was the beloved husband of Madelyn Riego. Father of Tracy Riego Burris and Ashley Riego. Son of the late Bulah Rodi Riego and Rudulfo Riego Sr. Brother of Pearl Casbon, as well as the late Rudulfo Riego Jr. and Raymond Riego. He is also survived by a grandson Daniel Burris Jr. and great granddaughter, Lydia Burris, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was a proud Vietnam veteran of the US Army, whose service was a shining example of his deep love of his country. After the military, he worked a number of places, but retired driving a United Cab. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and was known to laugh, joke, and cut up frequently. He most loved spending time with the love of his life, his Madelyn, and when they were able they loved listening to swamp pop music and going out dancing. His private time was often spent sitting quietly next to the pond in his back yard, where he found great tranquility. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Westlawn South Cemetery in Gretna. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
