Modesto, California - Mary Eccleston, 98, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Mary was born on November 30, 1924 in Eleele, Kauai. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Eccleston. Mary was one of 9 children born to Benino & Carmela Ortiz.
Mary was an avid bowler at the McHenry Bowl and played in many tournaments since 1985. She also enjoyed crocheting Afghans and especially reading.
Mary is survived by: sons, Jerry Eccleston, Charles and wife (Mary), John and wife (Becky). 5 Grandchildren: Christopher, Robert, Brian, Benjamin, and Kevin. 10 Great grandchildren: Anthony, Chris, Kira Joy, Jason, Zackary, Kai, Iolani, CJ, Adam, Joseph. 3 Great- great -grandchildren: Leia, Lana and Elizabeth Mary. Mary loved her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her including many beloved nieces and nephews.
A special "Thank You" to the staff at the Stratford at Beyer Park in Modesto, California for taking such great care of Mary since July of 2019.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude for all the care Community Hospice gave to our mother during her time under your care. You made our mother's last days brighter and comfortable up until her passing. For that we are very grateful and appreciative.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 15 at Lakewood Memorial Park & Funeral Home 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA 95326. Visitation will be in the Heritage Chapel 10:00am and Funeral Services at 11:00am.
