Loving brother of Stephen (Susan) Burke, Daniel (the late Theresa) Burke, Sarah (David) Baer, Joel (Susan) Burke. Matthew was predeceased by his parents the late William and the late Elena Burke. Visitation will be held on Friday February 9, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday February 10, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 11:00 a.m. at Hazel Park Church of Christ 1123 E. Woodward Heights Hazel Park, Michigan 48030.

Matt and I became acquainted through our shared guitar teacher. I enjoyed learning and hearing songs that Matt was recording from his collection of songs written when he was a younger man. Matt and I often spoke about the guitars we had and those that we wanted. Matt was always friendly, kind, and never missed an opportunity to give me a cinnamon candy. In my limited experiences with Matt it was obvious that he was a good person with a kind and generous spirt. Matt will be missed.
