Max Allen Obituary

Allen, Max Stelson
Bud, as he was known to his friends, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, May 21st. He was 86. Bud was preceded in death by his brother Harold Fred, Jr and leaves behind his brother John Henry (Jack, of Cottonwood). He was born in Phoenix to Harold Fred Allen, Sr. and Fay Stelson Allen in 1925. After his early education at Kenilworth and upon graduation from North High he served in the Navy during WWII, studied at Phoenix College, and graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson. In March of 1952 he married Lois Margaret Dodds and was a wonderful father to three children: Brenda Lynn (1954; now Deming of Chandler), Robert David (1956; now of Kansas City), and Daniel Thomas (1964; now of Philadelphia). Bud retired from Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors after 35 years and he and Lois knocked around the country in their fifth wheel for 8 summers. He was blessed with 5 grand children and 5 great grandchildren. On November 4th of last year, his birthday, he was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML) and a short expectancy. As typical of Bud he stubbornly resisted the prognosis, doubled his forecast, and was able to live independently at his home with his beloved wife Lois for all but the last 3 weeks of his long life. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8PM, Friday, June 1st, at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E Greenway (at Cave Creek) in Phoenix. He and Lois are long time members of Chaparral Christian Church, 6451 E Shea Blvd in Scottsdale. A service will be held there at 10:30AM, Saturday, June 2nd. A private burial will be held later in the day where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents at Greenwood Cemetery. Dad, you are and forever will be missed. Thank you for all you've passed down to your kids and grandkids. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Sherman Home, 5801 E Mayo Blvd, Phoenix, 85054 - a place where saints work.
