Bryan, Texas~ Michael “Mike” Privitt, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24th, 2025, in Bryan.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 3rd, 2025, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with an interment in Paradise Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pastor Van Christian will officiate.
Mike was born on February 7, 1947, to Chester and Margarett “Peggy” (Joslin) Privitt in Lubbock, Texas. He grew up in Lubbock and after graduating high school, Mike joined the Army where he served four years, mainly in Germany, when he returned, he attended and graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Mike married Eva Kaye Welch on May 15, 1970, while at Howard Payne in Brownwood, and together they had three sons: Michael of Bryan, Texas, Clayton of Spring, Texas, and Daniel of Benbrook, Texas. He served as pastor in several Missouri and Texas churches before his retirement. Among his most recent commitments were his impactful roles at the First Baptist Church of Chico and Williams Road Baptist Church in Fort Worth. His service has left a lasting impression on the communities he served. Mike would love us to share his favorite verse Romans 8:28 with you.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Kaye; both parents, Chester and Peggy Privitt; and his sisters, Joan and Liddy.
He is survived by his three sons Michael and wife Christine, Clayton, and Daniel and wife Cassie; three grandsons Michael Scott, Stephen, and Ross; brother, Pat, and wife Jenette of Lubbock; other relatives and a host of friends.
