Miles Parris Obituary

Miles Edwards Parris, 58, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on October 7, 2023. He was born on July 11, 1965, to Robert and Rose Parris in Austin, Texas. He and his four sisters grew up in Austin. It was a free-range childhood full of adventure and joy.

After attending high school Miles went on to work in the commercial car wash business. He was an expert in all aspects of the business—management, leasing, car wash technology, technician, safe cleaning solutions, environmental factors, supplies, sales, maintenance, and repair.

Miles was a man with great knowledge and expertise, a guru of sorts, but he was always humble and kind. Family and friends were always impressed with his intellect and memory. He was good-hearted, gentle, and witty. He loved music and could hear the individual parts and instruments in the orchestra when listening to the scores from his favorite movies. Grammar was also a love of his, and he prided himself on using it correctly. Like Tony Randall, he was a master of vocabulary, and he was a whiz at board games and trivia.

Miles was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, his sisters Krista (Kevin) Kaulfus and their children Kendall Kaulfus and Keaton Kaulfus, Mitzi Parris and her children Caroline Callaway and Rowan Callaway, Robbie (Andy) Burnett and their children Adam Burnett and Billy Burnett, and Elise Parris. He is also survived by his beloved girlfriend Terri Gosnell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, TX, 4045 FM-535, Bastrop, TX 78602. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Immediately following, all are invited to greet family and friends during a reception at the parish hall.

"[W]e are invited abroad on a party of pleasure—that is to last forever. His chair was first ready and he is gone before us. We could not all conveniently start together, and why should you and I be grieved at this, since we are soon to follow, and we know where to find him. Adieu." Benjamin Franklin to his niece on the death of his brother (Feb. 22, 1756).

Never personally met him, but very much appreciated his online presence. He was always ready to help his car wash buddies at a moment´s notice. We will miss him, and be happy to share what we´ve learned from him, with Terri, whenever she needs us.
