Nancy Duboc Obituary

Nancy W. Duboc

August 26, 1930 - July 9, 2025

Kansas City, Missouri - Nancy Woodruff Duboc, passed away at home as peacefully and gracefully as she lived her life with family by her side on July 9, 2025.

Nancy was born on August 26, 1930. She grew up in a family as one of four children in a home filled with music, ballet and creativity. She attended Border Star School, Southwest High School, University of Kansas and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Michigan. Nancy was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta while at KU. Throughout her life Nancy had tremendous compassion for children and adults in need. She volunteered many hours and supported the causes she believed in: Gordon Parks School, Head Start, Habitat for Humanity and Reconciliation Services. She served on the Board of the Epilepsy Foundation for years and volunteered into her eighties for Saint Luke's Hospital.

Nancy was an avid reader, a constant traveler and an accomplished tennis player who loved the game. Her tennis group was known as "Les Girls" and they had great fun! Nancy also loved bridge. She participated in bridge groups in various places in the city, but most often played with her friends at Mission Hills Country Club and continued to play after moving to Bishop Spencer Place.

Nancy was never afraid to try new things, like flying, skiing and golf. She started Open Court Tennis Shop with a dear tennis friend and business partner. This shop was one of the first of its kind in the area. After the shop was successful in Brookside it moved to the Prairie Village shops where it remained for years.

Nancy had a talent for interior design which she shared with friends and family. She had a gift for making a beautiful home. She also loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess.

Mom loved her family. Her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren called her Grammy and loved to visit with her as much as time and distance allowed.

Nancy will be greatly missed by her five children, Karen Calvin (Garry), Robert Duboc (Lee), Susan Duboc (Robert Haddick), Ann Duboc Sweeney (Dan), Carol Duboc (Tim Voorhees) nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, her sister Ann Johnson and cousin Dorothy Harza. Nancy was predeceased in death by her parents, her brother Max, her brother Bill and her ex husband Robert Duboc.

We want to thank Bishop Spencer Place and the wonderful caregivers from Brightstar Care, Kimberly, Lee, Renuka and Torita for the tremendous care and support.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Reconciliation Services, Saint Luke's Foundation for Bishop Spencer Place and Planned Parenthood
