Nancy Glaskin Obituary

Glaskin Nancy Jane Glaskin, age 86, died peacefully on October 8, 2016, with her loving daughters by her side. She was born on February 4, 1930, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Devota Virtue and Ed Tobey. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was a strong independent woman, and lived her life with dignity, faith, grace and strength. She gave back to the community by being a docent at the Columbus Zoo. She was involved in Bible studies and volunteered at the Community Congregational Church in Naples, Northwest Church in Columbus and Normandy Church in Centerville. Her strong unwavering faith in God got her through many trials and tribulations in life. She never complained and always had a bright outlook on life even though she had many tragedies thrown her way. Everyone who knew her loved her and her constant smile. We'd like to thank her loving and caring Dr. Karen, the entire staff at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living and the nurses at Hospice who took such wonderful care of her during the last few months, weeks, and days of her life. She had many friends; from her beloved home in Naples, Florida, to her friends in Columbus that she and George loved going to Ohio State Games with and her long time friends in Centerville, Ohio. She is preceded in death by husband Pete Dennison, son Pete Hendrickson, husband Bud Hendrickson, and husband George Glaskin. She is survived by daughters, Toby (Larry) McLaughlin and Terry (Drake) Talbert; and stepdaughters, Gail (Ed) Zapatony and Juli Glaskin (Barry) Cooperider, Robyn (Charlie) Wilkinson and Dawn Glaskin; grandchildren Stacy (Adam) Phillipich, Pete (Caitlyn) Talbert, Missy (Joe) Stacy, Christine (Jerry) Russell, and Rachel Wilkinson. "Nana" was loved by her great grandchildren, Genevieve, Emilia Jane, and Madeline Phillipich, Taylor, Erin, Emma and Zachary Stacy and Alexandrea Lancaster. Memorial Service will be at Normandy United Methodist Church, 450 W. Alex Bell Rd., Dayton, OH 45459 at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, with visitation at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420. Nancy's spirit and grace will always be a lovely memory. She was a positive, energetic presence in class, a delightful hostess in her home, and a wonderfully honest, forthright friend. She will always be treasured by those who knew her. And deeply missed.

I still have a wonderful picture of Nancy with "les girls" of the Strong Stretched & Centered Class. She was much loved and much missed after she moved to Florida.
May you cherish all the beautiful memories of this exceptional woman, of both courage and grace.

I was so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing. I have such good memories of Jim and I spending time with her and George on the sailboat up to Put-in-Bay, and then later in Florida. I got together with her or even stayed with her every year that I went to Florida for at least the last 10 years. We always had good times together and were both such dog lovers. I am going to miss her this winter.

Bette and Clark Purdy were so sorry to learn of Nancy's passing. She along with George were a big part of our lives for many, many years which consisted of travel to different locations on the planet as well as enjoying their company for many years while they lived in Columbus. Indeed the memories are considerable but our whole family still enjoys the special pancake recipe that was given to us in complete secrecy by Nancy and to who ever we give it to, we tell them not to give it to anyone else. You will be missed, Nancy!!!!
