Nate Velez Obituary

Velez, Nate
Neftali "Nate" Velez, 61, of Danbury, passed away on Thursday at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico, a son of the late Manuel and Caridad Torrez Velez. He grew up in Bridgeport and attended Bridgeport Schools. Nate was a retired machine operator with the former Gilbert & Bennett in Redding, CT. An avid fisherman, Nate was also proud Yankees and Giants fan.
Survivors include his sisters: Miriam Negron of Danbury and Esther Velez of Southbury. His brothers: Hector Velez of Danbury and Manuel Velez of New Milford. His longtime companion: Susan Curtis and their grandchildren: Christian and Jazii Curtis.
A Memorial service will be conducted Friday at 6 p.m. at the Kingdom Way Pentecostal Church, 5 Spring St., Danbury with the Rev. Ramon L. Ramos, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

I will always remember Nate for all the long talks we use to have and all the brotherly advice he gave to myself and manny, I will miss him and he will be thought of each and every day, thank you Nate for being there for me and being such a great brother to manny, may god be with you always and rip till I see you again.

Nate was a good and kind man as well as a very special friend who will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences go to his family and especially to Sue. I feel your pain and wish I could pay my respects in person, but we know that he's in a better place now. Rest in peace, Nate. I will always love you.
