Nathan Betesh Obituary

BETESH, NATHAN
Nathan Betesh of Bethel, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2016, at the age of 81, surrounded by his family at Danbury Hospital. Nathan was born in 1934, in Brooklyn, NY, to Jacob and Rebecca Betesh of Brooklyn , NY. He attended New York schools before joining the US Army during the Korean War. Nathan worked several years for Daitch Shopwell Supermarkets and Pathmark Supermarkets where he was a Deli Supervisor. He later opened his own luncheonette on Main St. in. Danbury. He then worked for Scalzo Appliance as a salesman in Danbury for many years. Before his retirement, Nathan enjoyed working for the Bishop Curtis Congregate, where he resided in Bethel. Upon retiring, Nathan found his true passion teaching a weekly Bible Study class at the Bethel Senior Center. Nathan touched the lives of many people, during his 16 years leading his non- denominational bible study class. This was Nathan's calling. Nathan enjoyed music and was a wonderful dancer and drummer sharing his talent with many at the Bethel and Danbury Senior Centers. Nathan's greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.
Nathan is survived by his son Brian Betesh and his wife Catherine of Danbury, daughter Rhonda Emmans and her husband Scott of Bethel. Three grandsons, Brian Betesh Jr., Sean Betesh and Chris Bennett, two step granddaughters, Lindsay Peterson and husband Denny, Randi Emmans, and his step great granddaughter Mia Peterson. Nathan also leaves behind his best friend and dance partner of many years Natalie Deluca of Bethel.
The family will receive friends at a Memorial Gathering at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Wednesday, January 20th, from 4 to 7pm.

Brian, Been a long time so sorry for you loss. Oh the memories. Just went by the old homestead the other day and on the way out went by where you lived and was telling my wife about the store that used to be on the first floor and the lady on the first floor with the killer chiwawa's. Sorry to hear of Nat's passing. I worked with him for several years at Scalzo's. He was a wonderful coworker and a gentleman. I continued to see him while shopping in Bethel. He always kept a positive attitude. He will be missed.
