My sympathy to Nate's family! I knew him in college and immediately after college, when both of us worked for the Yale-China Association. Nathan taught me my first non-textbook sentence of Mandarin Chinese, after I told him I was scared by the crowds of Chinese children who used to surround us in public. The Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of Goddard Riverside are deeply saddened by the passing of Nathan D. Taft. As a teen, Nathan volunteered with families impacted by homelessness. Nathan was my trusted and good friend in High School in Santa Barbara. We were both on the track and cross country team. We both ate lunch with each other in the early years, and even took our dates to Prom together. I recall his loving family. Nathan made our Spanish 101 class memorable for me with his kindness and sense of fun. How he did this at 8:30 every morning after a trek up science hill, I don´t know, but he did. I will miss him.
