Nelson was an excellent wrestler at Brookline High School & always a cool friend. It wast till we were in our 60s did we uncover that both our parents were POWs in WWII. He was great with DMD advice. Really miss the guy.

We always loved hearing your voice at UMC. I miss working with you and would think off and on about how you were doing. The amount of dental research you did for this world blew me away. Your spirit I think is what everyone would remember. That, and I hope the jumping bean ring patent :)

I was shocked to just hear today that Dr Wood has passed away. I only started seeing him about 2 years or so ago , I could not get into a dentist chair, Then a friend Sequaoia Told me about Dr Wood I needed dental work, I went and told him how scared I was of dentist, I was shaking in his chair, He started joking with me and made me very comfortable, He promised he would do his best not to cause me pain. He done extractions after a few novacains. he talked to me the whole time. I did not even know he was done when he asked how I felt, I said omg there out already. He told me he did not give pain meds, I did not ask anyway, he told me Tylenol and an ice pack if I was having pain, but I was ok, very little pain after. He told me call any time if I had any concerns. Dr Wood was my miracle Dentist, I still need work done, now I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm sure I am not going to find any dentist to make me comfortable at all. I am for sure going to miss him. Dr. Wood if you are listening to me up there in Heaven, You are one of my angels, I just want to Thank You For the care you gave me, I'm sure you will be missed by many. R.I.P. Dr. Wood, And my condolences To your family. So Sad :-( Linda

Dear Paula,
I was a tenant of your parents at 40 Longwood and I met Nelson
prior to that. He started dental school at UPenn when I was an undergraduate senior there. Karen Goldrich was my roommate and that is when I first met Nelson.
I saw the Globe article about him a few months ago and sent him an email telling him how brave I thought it was for him to share his story.
I am so very sorry for you and your family's loss of Nelson, and send my sincerest condolences at this very difficult time.

I met Nelson between 1978 and 79 when several of us young women rented an apartment his parents owned above their home on Beacon St. He was studious as well as helpful to his parents, and I had much respect for him. It's not surprising to learn that he offered care to many who couldn't otherwise afford it. I'm so sorry to learn of his untimely death.

My family was also a patient of Dr.Wood. Words don't describe his talent as a dentist and his wonderful personality. To be able to combine these attributes is unique. Such a gift to his family and patients. I never looked forward to going to the dentist till I met Dr Wood. I'll ll miss the conversation before during and after my appointment. My prayers to the family. I'm sure he will keep god smiling.

My mother Sequoia and I will miss Dr. Wood very much. He was the first dentist my mother had seen in 20 years because she could never handle the dentist. Dr. Wood was the first guy she really opened up to and let go near her. He was such a sweet and gentle guy, hilarious too! He will be greatly missed by us, and my heart is just broken. My heart goes out to Gabe who Dr. Wood could never stop talking about! All good things of course :) And his wife Allison, I am so very sorry for your loss you two! He will always be in the back of my mind as the greatest dentist out there and all around a great guy. Thanks for everything Dr. Wood. Rest in Paradise.

Dearest Allison and family,
Please except my deepest condolences to all of you during this most difficult time! I feel like I know you Allison, as he used to talk about you and the children all of the time while I was getting my dentistry work done! Boy did he love his family and would do anything for any of you! I met Dr. Wood a couple of years ago when he first came to the Cape as a new dentist here in town and I have never been happy with any of my dentists in my adult life because I am a nervous Nellie but when I switched to start seeing Dr. Wood I instantly felt is calmness and he helped come any nerves I had down. I always called him a big teddy bear! He's a big teddy bear with a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone!
I loved how personal he was and never, ever did the rush through any appointment, procedure or visit that I had with him! There are no doctors here that would ever give you as much time as Dr. Wood gave! More Doctors need to learn from Dr. Wood's bedside manner, as it is One to resemble for sure!
It broke my heart watching Dr.Wood work for so long in so much pain! However no matter how bad the pain was, his motto was to "always be there for his patients" And that he certainly was!
~Always and forever my Big Teddy Bear, may you finally be pain free. You are now one of the "Extra Special Angels" watching over you, Allison and your entire family! God Bless You All. May you find strength during this most difficult loss. You'll be in my prayers.

Dr. Wood was the most kindest and gentle soul. His silent compassion spoke volumes of a very fine man, it was my great fortune to know him. My prayers are with his family and may Dr. Wood have everlasting peace in the loving arms of God.

I am so saddened to hear of his loss this way! I went high school with Nelson! We used to hang out in Devotion playground ! He always had a smile and a sweet way about him! I have followed him on Facebook the last few yrs! After reading his journey it touched me so ! I got in touch and he responded. We instant messaged for quite a while catching up! We discussed our life's and spoke about the future! It was like we had spoken always. I know that recently he had some back issues. So to hear of his loss this way I am so saddened! My prayers are with you all! He is at peace now! I pray for you all!

Dearest Allison and Gabe, I will always remember Nelson's good and sensitive heart and his devotion to you both. He often shared with our patients the story of holding Gabe in the crook of his arm for the first time and "falling in love". I know he will be missed by so many...he touched so many lives with his stories and his patents and his self-depreciating humor. He put so many patients at ease with his personality. His mind was brilliant...my sincerest sympathies on your loss
