Pantelis Karaconstantis

1938 - 2018

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Pantelis (Peter) Karaconstantis, of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at the age of 80, surrounded by his wife and family.

He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Catherine (Kay) Karaconstantis. He is also survived by three sisters and his children, Donna Dilks, Peter Karaconstantis Jr., Katherine Karaconstantis LaLime (John), Peter Dardaganis (Ruth) and Faye Paskas (Martin); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Peter was born in Chios, Greece, on Jan. 28, 1938, and came to the U.S. after serving in the Greek Merchant Marine. After working as a cook at the Cedar Lane Grille in Teaneck, he moved to Sparta, where he was a co-owner of the St. Moritz in the '70s. From there, he and his wife, Kay, owned and operated PeKay's Luncheonette in Newton from 1983-2000.

Peter was a talented chef, faithful Mets fan and devout Greek Orthodox Christian who was dedicated to his family. He was a former Parish Council member at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in Randolph and an active parishioner at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Ft. Pierce, Fla. Additionally, Peter enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

Funeral services were held at St. Nicholas Church on Aug. 20 and he was laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Ft. Pierce, Fla. Arrangements were handled by Aycock Funeral Home at 6026 N. U.S. Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946 (www.aycock-hillcrest.com).
