Paul Dunn Obituary

Paul Wesley Dunn, 82, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on March 2, 2025.Born on November 25, 1942, in Covington, TN, Paul was the son of John Wesley Dunn and Bessie Posey Sanders, both of whom preceded him in death, as well as two of his siblings, Helen Dunn Culley and John Leslie Dunn. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Sandra Kay Sowell Dunn, who passed away on June 30, 2013. Paul was a graduate of Byars Hall High School in Covington, TN, class of 1960. He went on to proudly serve his country, first in the United States Army and later in the United States Naval Reserve, where he retired as Chief Aviation Boatswain Mate. His dedication to service continued for 33 years as a Memphis Firefighter, where he served with honor as a Lieutenant in the City of Memphis Fire Department from 1969 until his retirement in 2002. A longtime member of Raleigh Assembly Church, Paul found joy in serving his community and his faith. He was an avid baseball fan, particularly of the Chicago Cubs, but nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. Paul is survived by his two daughters, Paula Dunn Davidson (Kenny) of Byhalia, MS, and Teresa Dunn Davis (Jeff) of Henderson, TN. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Mike Vickers, Kindle Vickers, Joseph Vickers (Aleece), Amber Long (Dennis), Zach Pilcher, Christin Davis, and Jacob Davis. His great-grandchildren, Micha Vickers Jr., Isabella Martin, Logan Vickers, Juliana Long, Harrison Long, Sophia Vickers, Evelyn Vickers, Hudson Long, Harmony Chase, and Hannah Dennis. He is also survived by his sister, Chris Cobb (Jeff) of Orlando, FL. Paul's family and friends will cherish his loving nature, his dedication to others, and the warm memories he leaves behind. Visitation for Paul will be held Monday, March 10, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 with his service to follow at 2:00 PM also at, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. The graveside service will occur Monday, March 10, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
