Paul Provenzano Obituary

Paul John
Provenzano, 95, of Pearland, TX., beloved father, Paw Paw, and great Paw Paw, passed away August 31, 2013.
Paul was born on January 16, 1918, in Houston, Texas to Luke and Rose Provenzano. While growing up in Houston at the early age of 16, his father passed away suddenly, leaving Paul to support his mother and his 10 year old brother. During that time the family owned a grocery store near downtown Houston. Paul kept the family business running, despite all of the adversity and the Great Depression, while finishing high school and helping to raise his brother.
Paul joined the Marines in 1939 and fought in WWII. He was proud to be a Marine and a WWII veteran. He shared many war stories with his children and grandchildren. In the recent past he was also proud to represent the Marines at the annual Marine Birthday celebration ball for many years as the "oldest Marine".
After serving in the Marines for four years, Paul returned to Houston where he met and married the love of his life, Sadie Marie Lala.
Paul, along with his beloved wife Sadie, of 66 years, raised six children. They invested in real estate and spent nearly 30 years in the grocery business. They worked hard and saw to it that all six of their children went to 12 years of private school. Paul was a survivor and a provider.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie, his parents Luke and Rose (Frascino) Provenzano and his brother Bill Provenzano. He is survived by his sister-in-law Iwona Provenzano and brother-in-law, Leonard Lala. He is also survived by his children Paula Dunn and husband Billy, Catherine Logue and husband Bruce, Luke Provenzano, Louis Provenzano and wife Vita, Roseann Drake and Bill Provenzano and wife Mindy. In addition, his surviving grandchildren are Valerie Johnson and husband Bob, Erin Logue, Jerrad Logue, Vita Provenzano, Laura Lomax and husband Devin, Michael Provenzano, Colton Provenzano, Blake Provenzano, Anna Drake and Nathan Drake, great grandchildren Seth Myers, Sadie Myers, Jace Lomax, Blakely Provenzano, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Emerson Perin and Dr. David Fish and all of the staff at St. Luke's hospital for their years of patient care for both Sadie and Paul. We would also like to thank the in home care givers, especially Wanda Jones, for their devotion and dedication to our parents.
Visitation with the family will be at Jeter Funeral home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX, on Friday, September 13, 2013, from 5:30p.m.-7:30p.m. The vigil will start at 7:30p.m., with the reciting of the rosary immediately following. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 14, 2013, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, TX., followed by a military ceremony and burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

My sympathy goes out to all the Provenzano family. Your dad was one of the kindest and thoughtful persons I knew. He was not only my neighbor for many years but a very good friend. After my husband died, he and Sadie were always there to cover my back if I needed them. I know you will miss him.
