Paul Voorhies, Jr. Obituary
Ralph “Paul” Voorhies, Jr. went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the age of 63. A native of Baton Rouge, he was born February 8, 1960, to Ralph Paul Voorhies, Sr. and Betty Byrd Voorhies. Paul was a loving husband, proud father, a true friend and mentor to many. He was the founder and President of Equity Management Resources, Inc., and Property Management Services of Baton Rouge, Inc., and enjoyed a lifelong career in commercial real estate.
He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law James Wayne “Rhino” Ryan and brother-in-law Randy McNemar.
Paul is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jamie Ryan Voorhies; three daughters Megan Renee Voorhies Hanks and husband Jackie, Alana Kendall Voorhies and boyfriend Colton Leopard, Abigail Lea Frederic and fiancé Brent Torres; and three sons Ralph Paul “Trey” Voorhies, III and girlfriend Carrae McDonald, Trevor Paul Voorhies and Alexander Romulado Frederic. He is also survived by three grandchildren Kylee Clare Hanks, Koen Paul Hanks and Kenzie Rose Hanks; sister Shelia Voorhies McNemar; and mother-in-law Diann Kling Ryan.
The family invites friends and extended family to a Visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Boulevard in Baton Rouge, with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In a word, Paul was genuine. His kindness and generosity impacted so many. Paul’s smile, wit and keen intellect will be cherished by all who loved him.
