Paula Townsend Obituary

Paula Townsend HICKORY Paula Fox Townsend, 55, went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 27, 2011. Born in Japan on Jan. 19, 1956, she was the daughter of Loyd Wayne Fox and Felicia Alice Fox. Paula was the owner of Landmark Real Estate and worked for several other companies over her 29-year career. One of her joys was helping her clients find a place to call home. Many of her clients became long-term friends. Paula loved being around others and was always finding ways to get her many friends together. She loved to entertain and had a gift for making people feel at home, whether they were old friends or new. She enjoyed boating, outdoor activities and keeping her husband as busy as possible. She also enjoyed gardening and was never happier than when she was digging and planting. She also enjoyed traveling, antiques and playing with her grandson at every opportunity. Paula was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS). She was active in the greeting and visitors ministry. As in her personal life, she always wanted to make others feel welcome. Her greatest love other than her husband was her Lord and Savior. She loved to read her Bible and spent hours immersed in studying scripture. Faith was a source of constant strength and only grew stronger. Her daily reading of the scriptures helped her to grow in her walk with Christ. Through her struggle, illness was never the focus of her life and she continued to live as though her illness was never there. James 1:12. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of nearly 20 years, Brent N. Townsend; her daughter, Heather Kivett and her husband, Tripp, of Reidsville; her grandson, Gavin Kivett; her brother, Greg Fox, of Hickory; her sisters, Lisa Fox, of Dallas, Texas, and Kim Fox, of Claremont. Paula is preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Fox. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS) with Rev. David Guelzow officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS) Columbarium Fund, 2304 Springs Road, Hickory, NC 28601; or Western North Carolina Via De Christo, PO Box 512, Hickory, NC 28603. Paula was our first connection to HicKory when we relocated here almost 11 years ago. Not only was she excellent at what she did as a realtor but she was a wonderful person with an infectious laugh! We were blessed to have met her and will miss here in our community! Our thoughts and prayers are with her family-

Dearest Paula _ what a great loss. She was a beautiful Lady and a Pure spirit. I am deeply touched for her family. Although I do not "know" personally, Paula's husband, I will pray for you and all the family in the coming months. God has His plan and His way and she is SAFE now in the arms of Christ Jesus her Lord; no greater comfort can we find. Carry on "until the Shout" dear loved ones.
