PHILIP SCHWARZ

Philip Robert Schwarz was born on April 17, 1940, in New York City. He passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at his home in Clovis, with his wife Alvera at his side. He was a Magna cum Laude graduate of New York Institute of Technology. A gifted mechanical engineer, he worked for CMB in Clovis. His diverse career took him to NIBCO in Texas, Victaulic in Pennsylvania, Paul Monroe in Orange County, Allis Chalmers in Pennsylvania and Link Aviation in Binghamton, New York. At Victaulic he was awarded a US patent for his innovative design of "Test Master" system. He settled in Clovis in 1998, and enthusiastically embraced the town and its people. An Air Force veteran, Phil was an avid student of aviation history and was most happy in and around aircraft of any kind. He was also a skilled photographer and videographer who volunteered his skills to capturing events of all kinds in and around Clovis, including videotaping "Let's Talk Clovis" presentations for the last four years. After retiring from CMB, he found joy in working at Roys' Trains and Things, immersed in the world of model planes and ships that he loved. He was a very active member of Elks Lodge 2599 where he enjoyed volunteering his time and talent in supporting many Elks activities and projects. He is survived by his wife Alvera; his children, Jason and Catherine; his brother Richard; and a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces; and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Boice Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky Ave., in Clovis, on Monday, April 4, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Agnes Hospice, 6729 N.
