Polly Power Obituary

Polly Ann Owens Power, age 89 of Bartlett, TN, passed away peacefully at home.

She was born on 22 March 1936 to the late Orben Edward Owens and Curtis Rhodes Owens Garrison of Humboldt, TN.

She is preceded in death by her husband SMSgt Billy (Bill) Gene Power (4 Nov 1987), her parents, her two brothers, Orben Edward (Bubba) Owens and Billy Wilson Owens, and her two sisters, Helen Owens Walker and Peggy Owens Stoyak.

She will always be in the hearts of her surviving children, daughters Jackye Power Haas of Memphis and Debra Power Ingram (Paul) of Bartlett, her sons, Marcus Power (Sheri) of Hampton, Va and Billy E Power of Bartlett; five grandchildren, Benjamin (Ben) Power (Olivia) of the Bahamas, Joshua (Josh) Power (Jeannie) of Celebration, Fl, Billy D Power (Rebekah) of Ripley, Ms, Wesley (Wes) Moody (Haley) of Memphis, Tn and Haylee Power McNatt (Robbie) of Atoka, Tn, and fourteen great grandchildren.

As Bill was in the Air Force, Bill and Polly spent 25 years moving from Memphis, Tn, Phoenix, Az, Columbus, MS, Minot, ND, Toule, France, Columbus, Ms and Omaha, Ne with Polly staying in Columbus or Senatobia, Ms when Bill was on unaccompanied posts. Polly worked at the Base Exchange and kept the home fires burning. Polly was always at school events, ball games, bowling tournaments and where ever her children needed her. After retirement from the AF, Bill (Fire Chief) and Polly(Housing Officer) both worked for Boeing and Holmes and Narver at Incilik AB, Turkey for eight years, until Bill became unwell and they returned to Memphis, Tn. Polly took care of Bill till his death in 1987. In 1989, Polly moved to Humboldt, Tn to be with her mother, Curtis till her death in 2004. There she joined St Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson, TN and did lots of work with in the church, especially the RCIA. From 2004 to 2013, Polly spent time being with her children and her sister, Helen. In 2013, due to the Alzheimer's, Polly moved into an assisted living apartment at The Oaks in Jackson, Tn. In 2016, Polly moved to Bartlett, Tn and was cared for at home by her family. Polly died peacefully at home with her family around her.

In lieu of flowers donations to St Jude, American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Research were Mom's favorite charity or charity of your choice.

A funeral mass for Polly will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Church of the Nativity, 5955 St Elmo Rd, Bartlett, TN 38135.
